MediaTek is all set to unveil its next flagship smartphone processor. The company has confirmed the launch date of its new Dimensity flagship chipset, which is expected to be called the Dimensity 9600 Pro.
The new processor will be officially unveiled on September 15 at 2:30 PM in China. MediaTek is teasing major upgrades in performance, power efficiency, gaming and video recording.
Dimensity 9600 Pro Could Be MediaTek’s First 2nm Chip
The Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to become MediaTek's first smartphone chipset based on a 2nm manufacturing process. Reports suggest that it could use TSMC's second-generation 2nm N2P process.
The smaller process could help MediaTek deliver higher performance while keeping power consumption under control. The standard Dimensity 9600, meanwhile, is expected to continue using a 3nm process.
Gaming appears to be one of the biggest areas of focus. MediaTek has teased several technologies, including AI-assisted GPU rendering, an upgraded StarSpeed Engine and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
The chipset is also expected to improve mobile video recording. MediaTek has teased support for 4K slow-motion video at 240fps, which could be useful for users who record high-quality slow-motion content on their smartphones.

MediaTek has officially teased the launch of its next flagship smartphone chipset, the Dimensity 9600 Pro. The company has confirmed that the new processor will be unveiled on September 15 at 2:30 PM in China during a dedicated conference.

Dimensity 9600 Pro Specs and Expected Phones
According to early reports, the Dimensity 9600 Pro could feature an eight-core CPU with the following configuration:
- 2 cores: Up to 4.55GHz
- 3 cores: Up to 4.35GHz
- 3 cores: Up to 3.10GHz
- GPU: Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12
- Manufacturing process: Expected 2nm
Early Geekbench results have reportedly shown the chipset crossing 4,000 points in single-core testing and 13,000 points in multi-core testing on the Vivo X500 Pro Max.
Several upcoming flagship smartphones are also tipped to use the new processor. These include the Vivo X500 Pro, Vivo X500 Pro Max and Oppo Find X10 Pro Max.
