Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Arrives As A New Flagship Chipset

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor has been released. The new chipset will power the most recent premium smartphones from most Android smartphone manufacturers, including OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, iQOO, and others.

Moreover, the new chipset was available during the Summit 2022. The company claims that the new processor features a 35 per cent faster CPU, a 25 per cent faster GPU, and AI that is up to 435 per cent quicker. Another significant improvement is the inclusion of Ray Tracing capability in mobile phone games. Furthermore, the chipset also has Wi-Fi 7, Always-Sensing Camera compatibility, and Dynamic Spatial Audio. For the chipset, the business has kept the 4nm design.

The precise smartphone models that will be unveiled using the Snapdragon 8 chipset are unknown. OPPO may be among the first companies to release the OPPO Find X2 with this top mobile processor. Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and OnePlus have also announced the release of smartphones powered by a particular chipset. Samsung and iQOO might be on board in the future, although the exact timing is hard to predict.

The 8 Gen 2 is Qualcomm Connect, which boasts the most advanced 5G platform. The Snapdragon X70 5G Modem has powers with a Qualcomm 5G AI Processor and supports 5G dual-SIM dual-Active. The Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 processor provides low latency Wi-Fi 7 and a dual Bluetooth connection. In addition to the next-generation Wi-Fi standard, it has High Band Simultaneous Multi-Link, which provides peak Wi-Fi 7 performance at speeds up to 5.8Gbps.

Furthermore, in terms of multimedia (ISP) compatibility, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chipset supports up to 144Hz QHD+ display resolution or 4K @60Hz, as well as the ability to record up to 8K HDR films @30fps. This processor also offers 4K@120fps videos and a variety of formats like Dolby Vision, HDR/HDR 10+, and HLG, among others.
