Tecno Pova Slim, the slimmest phone from Tecno, has arrived, and I’ve been using it for the past month to review it. I can assure you that you won’t find a 5.95mm slim body in just 20K. Recently, Samsung launched its Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge with a 5.8mm thickness, and Apple released the iPhone Air with a 5.6mm slim body, the thinnest in the world. However, both phones are priced over one lakh rupees, whereas Tecno offers its slimmest phone for under 20K.

Moreover, this phone is not made for heavy tasks or gaming, but is perfect for daily use. You may not want to use it for hardcore gaming, but the image quality is satisfactory. Let’s explore everything about the Tecno Pove Slim in-depth review.

Tecno Pova Slim Design and Build

There is doubt that Tecno did a fantastic job in making their slimmest phone, the Tecno Pova Slim, at 5.9mm thick. I’ve been using this for the last month, and its in-hand feel is amazing.

    Tecno Pova Slim design

Its curved back and front edges fit perfectly in your hand. The brand also offers a fibreglass back that does not attract fingerprint stains. Moreover, I’m using Sky Blue, which changes colour at different angles.

    side

This phone features a camera strip on the back, similar to the Apple iPhone Air and Pixels, which slightly protrudes from the design. But the brand perfectly designed this phone, allowing it to sit stably on a table without shaking due to the camera bump.

    top

Moreover, its back Mood Light also gives an eye-catching look, which you can activate from settings. So, it will blink during calls, notifications, charging, low battery reminders, voice assistance, flip to flash, and startup. Furthermore, you can partially activate it from the settings.

    bottom

Moving on to ports, it features power and volume buttons, with the top being the only area that lacks any other features, except for a microphone with Dolby Atmos branding. You get a Type-C slot, a SIM tray, and a sound strip at the bottom of the phone.

Moreover, this phone is IP64 dust-tight and water-resistant, protecting it from water splashes. It also comes with MIL-STD-810H compliant, but does not guarantee ruggedness or use in extreme conditions. Overall, the Tecno Pova Slim design review is fantastic and impressive. I’m curious how much it can withstand accidental drops.

    Tecno Pova Slim Camera

During my Tecno Pova Slim camera review, it offers satisfactory image results, but I can’t say that it provides excellent image quality considering its price. Previously, I used Vivo T4, Realme P4 Pro, CMF Nothing Phone 2 Pro, etc., which deliver even better camera results within the same price range. This phone comes with a 50MP + 2MP dual rear camera.Tecno Pova Slim camera sample

You can see my image sample, which Tecno did not add extra saturation to make the images look more colourful. So, the image results look natural with accurate colours. But the concern is the missing depth, and images look pixelated in normal mode.Image sample

You can see my images, which clearly show the normal struggles to capture reality and depth in their results. Moving on to portrait mode, you’ll notice excellent edge detection, along with accurate colour and depth in the results.image sample image sample

Similarly, you can see flower images and building images that look amazing with rich colours.

    Front camera sample

Regarding the front camera, it captures moderate images. I’m saying this because the colours are uneven in the image results. But again, Portrait delivers excellent image results in the front camera too.

    camera sample

Moving on to video recording, you can record 1440p videos at 30fps with the rear camera and 1080p at 30fps with the front camera. I recorded multiple videos with both cameras, but their sound pickup is excellent even in crowded places, too.

Tecno Pova Slim Battery and Charging

The battery is an essential part of any smartphone. During the Tecno Pova Slim review, I got almost a full day of battery life on a single charge. Keep in mind that I used this phone for social media, YouTube, and other daily activities.

    Tecno Pova Slim battery

However, if you play games like BGMI, Clash of Clans, and other online games, you will get nearly 15 hours of battery life. Tecno added a 5160mAh battery capacity to maintain its slim design.

    charger

Regarding charging, you get a 45W charger out of the box. So, it takes almost one hour to charge fully. Moreover, it comes with 10W reverse charging support to charge your earbuds and smartwatches.

    Tecno Pova Slim Display

The Tecno Pova Slim features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for better protection from accidental drops. The brand has finally moved to AMOLED, which is a great step forward compared to most phones in this price range.

    Tecno Pova Slim display

Moreover, it offers 1600 nits (HBM) and 4500 nits of peak brightness, allowing for easy use under direct sunlight without struggling to read text or see icons.

    refresh rate

The display supports a 144Hz refresh rate, but there is a small catch. Only a few apps like Settings, Messages, and Phone actually run at 144Hz, while the rest are limited to 120Hz. Still, the overall experience feels fluid and smooth during scrolling and daily usage.

I like that Tecno didn’t compromise on the panel quality this time. Colours appear punchy, contrast levels are excellent, and watching OTT content feels immersive. However, the bezels are slightly noticeable, especially at the bottom, which could have been trimmed for a more premium look.

Overall, the Tecno Pova Slim display review is fantastic. The high brightness, AMOLED panel, and 120Hz+ support make it one of the better screens in its segment.

    Tecno Pova Slim Performance

The Tecno Pova Slim is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, which looks good on paper but fails to deliver consistent performance in real-life usage. The phone runs smoothly while scrolling through apps, chatting, or watching videos, but it starts showing its weakness the moment you push it beyond basic tasks.

    RAM

During the Tecno Pova Slim review, I played BGMI for around one hour, and the phone started heating near the camera module. The frame temperature increased noticeably, and performance began to drop with minor stutters and touch delays. This clearly shows that Tecno hasn’t optimised thermal management properly.

Although the chipset is capable, its lack of heat control and poor GPU stability render it unreliable for gaming or heavy multitasking. You can still manage light games or casual app usage, but don’t expect consistent performance in long sessions.

For daily tasks like calling, browsing, and watching short videos, the phone works perfectly fine. However, if you’re looking for a phone for gaming or performance-driven tasks, the Pova Slim is not made for that.

    Tecno Pova Slim benchmarks

I conducted several Benchmark tests on the Tecno Pova Slim to evaluate its accurate performance in various aspects. Its Geekbench CPU scores are 761 in single-core and 1925 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 90%. Moreover, its Antutu score is 601174. The 3DMark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 99.5%.

Tecno Pova Slim Software and UI

Tecno Pova Slim is equipped with HiOS 15, which is based on Android 15. When it comes to the user interface, it appears as if Tecno has patterned it after Apple’s iOS 18, especially the icons and animations. The interface felt like a copy of Apple’s design.

    Tecno Pova Slim software

As an iPhone 15 user, I noticed the interface adaptation the most. I noticed that the Android ecosystem tries to counterfeit the iOS feeling. In fact, the brand has also copied the Dynamic Island effect, which is used during notifications and charging. It is gaudy and flashy, but it still lacks polish and appears sluggish.

    Android 15

One of the software’s highlights is its AI features. The AI tools have an ecosystem within the Tecno system. The AI tools provide daily assistance, including the Ella Voice Assistant, Ella Smart Touch, Call Assistant, Translation Assistant, and Social Assistant. However, some AI features are genuinely helpful and work smoothly.

    AI features

Even with all the polish on the surface, HiOS still has unremovable and unwanted pre-installed apps. While juggling apps, the transition is smooth, but switching between heavy apps causes a noticeable lag.UI UI

Overall, in this Tecno Pova Slim review, the software experience looks modern and visually appealing, but still needs optimisation.

    UI

Tecno’s effort to bring AI-driven features is commendable, yet the iOS-inspired design and minor bugs slightly spoil the premium impression.

    Verdict

After reviewing the Tecno Pova Slim 5G for nearly a month, I can say that it is a beautifully designed phone that focuses more on style than power. Its slim design, bright AMOLED display, and AI-loaded HiOS make it perfect for someone who values aesthetics and daily usability over gaming or performance.

However, if your priority is performance, gaming, or top-notch camera output, this phone might disappoint you. The heating issue during BGMI sessions and minor UI lags clearly show that Tecno still needs better optimisation.
Overall, the Tecno Pova Slim 5G is ideal for light users who want a stylish, ultra-slim smartphone with decent features under ₹20,000. It’s not a powerhouse, but it surely turns heads with its design.
