  • Review Summary

Lava Agni 4 walks in proudly carrying the ‘Made in India’ tag. But can patriotism alone power a great smartphone? I’ve been using this phone for the last two weeks, and I got something better compared to last year’s Lava Agni 3.

Lava enhanced its performance segment, making the strongest phone in the Lava lineup. But I felt that the brand should work more on the camera segment, as well as design and appearance. Let’s read my detailed Lava Agni 4 review.

  • Lava Agni 4 Price in India and Variants

Lava Agni 4 price is 24,999 rupees in India. This phone comes with a single variant of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. I’m using its Lunar Mist colour, but available in Phantom Black as well.

One of the best is that Lava also offers an at-home replacement for any covered manufacturing defect under warranty.

Lava Agni 4 Design and Build

Lava Agni 4 worked across various segments to attract the maximum users. In the design segment, the overall back finish is fantastic. Its aluminium frame offers greater durability than other phones in the same price range with plastic or polycarbonate frames.

    Lava Agni 4 design

But in my personal view, I usually do not like branding too close to the camera, which ruins the aesthetic appearance. Plus, the brand added a curved line that looks like LEDs like Nothing Phones, but it’s not. At the same time, I’m accepting that everyone has their own unique approach to making their own trend in the smartphone-dense market.

While it weighs 208 grams, I think Lava needs to work on making phones lighter. A weight under 200 grams gives a more positive feel. At the same time, it does not have an IP68 or IP69 rating; instead, it only has an IP64 rating. We see higher IP ratings in lower-priced phones, indicating greater safety for users.

    Lava Agni 4 action button

One of the best things I liked is the placement of the action button, which offers rich options. You will find this button at the bottom-right of the phone. You can change its usage in settings, but currently, I use it for the flashlight with a double tap, for screenshots with a single tap, and as a camera control button while using the phone.

Moving on to ports, the phone has an IR blaster, a microphone, and a secondary speaker at the top. There is nothing on the left side, while its side has a volume button, a power button, and an action button. You will see a microphone, a SIM tray, a Type-C jack, and a speaker strip at the bottom of the phone.

    Lava Agni 4 Camera

I found that the camera is a weak point in my Lava Agni 4 review. The brand needs to improve a lot to achieve better image results. I took many pictures, mostly in good lighting conditions, such as between 4 PM and 5 PM. However, there are many problems across multiple modes.

    Lava Agni 4 camera

Talking about its sensor first. It may look promising on paper with its 50MP main sensor and 8MP ultrawide sensor with 4K video support. But in real-world testing, the camera performance turns out to be one of its weakest areas.

    Lava Agni 4 camera sample

You can see the images: the flower colours are not accurate, and even the long shots lack depth of field. I’m not expecting higher-quality images, but the photos should have basic colour accuracy and depth.

    camera sample

In portrait mode, the colours often drift towards unnatural tones, especially on skin. You can see the image which was changed, even could not even detect the edges. Honestly, I was surprised after seeing my images in portrait mode.

Lava Agni 4 Portrait mode sample

Edge detection was also inconsistent during flowers click, with the camera frequently misreading outlines. It blurs parts of the hibiscus flower, even the hair or clothes, and sometimes fails to separate the subject from the background altogether.

    camera sample

Images lack depth, giving photos a flat, processed feel instead of the natural “3D pop”. Dynamic range is another concern; highlights blow out easily, shadows lose detail, and the overall balance feels off, especially in mixed lighting.

    camera sample

I also observed that it struggles to focus on the subject in 1x or 2x, even after multiple clicks. During Lava Agni 4 review, I also clicked a lot of selfies with the front camera, which I got fair in normal selfies. But moving on to portrait mode selfies, I face the same problem of missing edges and colour accuracy.

    front camera sample

You can record 4K videos at 30 fps with both the front and rear cameras. But again, I would say clarity will be a concern.

Lava Agni 4 Battery and Charging

Lava Agni 4 offers amazing battery life with a 5,000mAh battery capacity. You may be concerned about the battery mAh number, which looks mediocre, but honestly, numbers don’t matter; optimisation and screen time matter.

    Lava Agni 4 battery

During the Lava Agni 4 review, I got almost 10.5 hours of battery life, mostly from YouTube, a Homebound movie, and the rest of social media. If you play games like BGMI, you may see some battery life drop, which is totally fine.

    charger

Overall, it offers a day’s battery life in normal usage. This phone comes with 66W fast charge out of the box. So, it can change 50 per cent in just 19 minutes. Plus, it can change your phone entirely in just 51 minutes.

    Lava Agni 4 Display

Moving on Lava Agni 4 display review. It comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, which offers a great viewing experience. It supports HDR, which higher standard but better than SDR. I did not have much black colour accuracy in videos, but not so much questionable too.

    videos quality

This phone has a peak brightness of 2400 nits. I used this phone even in harsh conditions, and it went pretty well; everything was visible.

    Lava Agni 4 display

Moreover, it has an 88.7 per cent screen-to-body ratio, and Lava worked a lot on giving a minimal notch.

    Refresh rate

One of the best things is the 120Hz refresh rate, which lets you use your device fluently and scroll smoothly.

    Display

It has a 1220 x 2712-pixel resolution and a 446 PPI density. The brand also added Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen, which is so much more resistant to accidental damage.

    Lava Agni 4 Performance

Performance is the strongest point of the Lava Agni 4 review. It comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 (4 nm) chipset, which you will see in under 40K phones like the OPPO Reno 14. So, it uses modern, powerful hardware, which positions it as a “flagship-lite / premium mid-range” contender.

    Lava Agni 4 performance

There is no heating issue even in hardcore gaming. I played a lot of BGMI even after playing 3 hours of continuous gaming. I felt warm, but it is completely fine. You can play BGMI and the battle ground games smoothly without any frame drop.

    Lava Agni 4 gaming

Complementing the chipset, Lava pairs LPDDR5X RAM with UFS 4.0 storage. Both of which are top-tier memory/storage technologies even at this price point.

This combination ensures that day-to-day operations like opening apps, switching between them, and loading significant assets stay fast and smooth, without the lag or stutters familiar to many.

General multitasking, switching between apps, browsing, social media, and messaging is smooth and fluid, with no noticeable lag or slowdown even under heavy usage. All credit goes to the efficient RAM + storage combo.

I can say the device delivers “flagship-like” speed in everyday tasks despite sitting in a mid-range price segment, which makes it stand out compared to many devices at or slightly below its price. This speaks to a solid value-for-money equation, especially for users who value speed and fluidity over premium camera bells and whistles.

    Lava Agni 4 benchmarks

I did several Benchmark tests on the Lava Agni 4 to check its accurate performance in different aspects. Its Geekbench scores are 1439 in single-core and 4560 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 69 per cent. Moreover, Lava blocked its Antutu score. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 82.5 per cent.

Lava Agni 4 Software and UI

I have seen a lot of upgrades in the UI aspect as well as AI areas. It comes with the Android 15 operating system with up to three years of major updates, offering security for long-term usage.

    Android 15

Plus, it runs on a near-stock version of Android 15 with a bloatware-free UI. So, I did not see any irrelevant apps.

    Lava Agni 4 UI

However, Lava has added many customisation features; I’ll explain a few here. The Duraspeed feature boosts foreground app performance by restricting background apps.

    UI

This optimisation can improve the speed of the app you are currently using, but it might negatively impact other apps that need to run in the background, such as for notifications. You can usually disable DuraSpeed entirely or selectively choose which apps are allowed to run in the background through the phone’s settings.

    UI

You can also activate smart touch, like the old Apple vibe. Action button customised options are at your fingertips. All of this is added in the display section, including Edge lighting, changing the charging animation, switching the screen display area to hide the top area or setting it as the default.

    annimations

I activated the lift-to-wake feature, allowing the phone screen to turn on when I lift the phone. You can also change your fingerprint animation from default to aesthetic.

    UI

I loved its Vayu AI animation. You can see a cute Dogesh bhai sleeping calmly at the centre of the screen, and with a single tap, he does a happy somersault as if asking, ‘May I help you?’.

    AI

To activate it, you just have to long-press, and the Vayu AI instantly comes alive to assist you with your questions, just like Siri or Google Assistant.

    Verdict

In my Lava Agni 4 review, it’s clear that Lava has finally nailed performance. The Dimensity 8350, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 give this phone a level of speed and stability that genuinely feels above its price tag. Daily tasks, multitasking, and even long gaming sessions run smoothly without heating or lag, making it the strongest and most reliable performer in Lava’s entire lineup.

But the camera holds it back from being a complete package. Colour accuracy, portraits, and focus need serious refinement, and the design could be lighter and more polished. If your priorities are raw performance, a clean UI, and dependable battery life, the Lava Agni 4 will easily impress you.

If you’re buying mainly for camera quality, you may want to look elsewhere, such as the Realme P4 Pro, Realme P3 Ultra, Nothing Phone 3a, Vivo V50e, or Motorola Moto Edge 60. I hope you liked my honest Lava Agni 4 review.
