  • Samsung has kicked off a major Samsung free upgrade for millions of Galaxy users, bringing the new One UI 8.5 beta alongside the April 2026 security update. The rollout expands to a wide range of devices, from premium flagships to mid range smartphones, giving users early access to new features, smoother performance, and improved security.

    The update is already live in India and is expanding to countries like Germany, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Users can check availability through the Settings menu or the Samsung Members app.

    Samsung has released One UI 8.5 Beta 9 for the Galaxy S25 series, including Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup has also joined the beta program. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has received Beta 2, though some features are still limited.

    The company has also started the beta program for older flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, along with foldable phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G is among the mid-range devices receiving the update in India.

    April 2026 Security Update Fixes 47 Issues

    Alongside the Samsung free upgrade, the April 2026 security patch is rolling out widely. This update focuses on improving device safety and fixing vulnerabilities.

    Security update highlights:

    • 47 total vulnerabilities fixed
    • 33 issues addressed from Android Security Bulletin
    • 10 fixes from Samsung Mobile
    • 4 fixes from Samsung Semiconductor

    The security update is also reaching non beta users across Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 devices in different regions. Since the rollout is happening in phases, some users may receive it later than others.
