Riot Games has announced major changes for the Valorant Champions Tour 2027. The company is moving away from the old league system to a more exciting tournament format. This new VCT 2027 format gives more chances to open teams and makes every match important. Fans can expect a fresh and competitive season starting next year.
New VCT 2027 Format Explained
Riot is replacing long league stages with Open Qualifiers and Regional Cups. This system creates a clear path to Masters and Champions.
- 12-Team Triple Elimination Kickoffs return in all regions
- Partner teams must qualify like open teams – no guaranteed spots
- Top 3 teams from Kickoffs advance directly to Masters
- Partner teams can be relegated if they perform poorly
- Financial support for non-partner teams (up to $400,000 for Champions)
This format makes the competition fairer and more intense for everyone.

Schedule And Regions
Riot has not shared the full schedule yet, but the season is expected to start early 2027.
- Kickoffs and Open Qualifiers: January–February 2027
- First Masters: End of Q1 2027
- Regional Cups: May, June–September 2027
- Valorant Champions: Late September or early October 2027
