Xiaomi has officially launched its new foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in China. The company’s latest foldable has arrived with a compact passport-style design, a large inner display, flagship hardware and a Leica-backed camera setup.
The launch comes at an interesting time for the foldable market, with Apple also expected to enter the segment with its first foldable iPhone. While Apple’s foldable has not yet been officially detailed, the Xiaomi 18 Fold shows what a high-end Android foldable can offer.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold has a 5.38-inch outer display that expands into a 7.58-inch inner screen when unfolded. The larger panel is designed for multitasking, entertainment and productivity, giving the phone a tablet-like experience without requiring users to carry a separate device.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold has launched in China and is available in several RAM and storage configurations, with the starting variant priced at CNY 10,999 (around USD 1,638 or Rs. 1,54,775). The higher storage and memory options carry a premium, while the Ceramic Limited Edition sits at the top of the lineup.

Pre orders for the device are already open in China. The company will officially start selling it from 10:00 AM on September 10.

Xiaomi has also unveiled a special Ceramic Edition featuring a silicon nitride ceramic build. The material helps keep the device lighter while offering a harder and more durable surface. This premium variant is available only with 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and 1TB of storage, with Xiaomi limiting production to just 1,500 units.
Xiaomi 18 Fold Gets a New Hinge and Flagship Hardware
One of the biggest highlights of the Xiaomi 18 Fold is its Dragon Bone Hinge. Xiaomi has used a three-level linkage structure for the hinge, while the phone also features a 7-series aluminium alloy frame and Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.
The foldable has launched in Red, Black and Warm Gold White colour options.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Fold has been powered by Xiaomi’s Xring O3 flagship processor. The chipset has been built using a 3nm process and is paired with up to 16GB of RAM. The phone also features LPDDR6 memory, making it one of the first smartphones to adopt the newer memory standard.
The camera setup is another major selling point. Xiaomi has partnered with Leica for the camera system, while the phone features a 200-megapixel primary camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The battery has also received a significant upgrade. The Xiaomi 18 Fold packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports 67W wired charging along with 50W wireless charging.
With its large foldable display, new hinge, Xring O3 processor, LPDDR6 memory, Leica cameras and 6,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 18 Fold has arrived as a serious premium foldable. Whether it can challenge Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, however, will depend on Apple’s final design, specifications and pricing.
