Loaded with spectacular features and a top-notch design, the OnePlus 7T Pro might just be the most fabulous flagship from OnePlus, which is giving serious competition to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Pixel 4. Although the OnePlus 7T Pro builds on its predecessor, the OnePlus 7 Pro, it has a lot to boast of.

The OnePlus 7T Pro sports a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. While it has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, the pixel density is 515 PPI. The phone runs on the Android v10 (Q) operating system and is powered by an octa-core (2.96 GHz, Single core, Kryo 485 + 2.42 GHz, Tri core, Kryo 485 + 1.8 GHz, quad-core, Kryo 485) processor. At its core, It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The phone comes with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage. However, there’s another storage option – the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition that comes with 12GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage.

The OnePlus 7T Pro features a 16 MP Front Camera along with a triple camera module at the back – 48MP + 16MP + 8MP camera with amazing specs. It has a 4085 mAh battery. As for the battery, it gets a 4085 mAh battery.

The phone was launched in India at a price of Rs. 53,999. It comes in one color – Haze Blue.

  • It has an excellent and contemporary design.
  • The screen is big with punchy colors.
  • The performance of OxygenOS is quite impressive.
  • It comes with super-fast charging.
  • The UI experience is smooth and glitch-free.

  • The phone has only one storage option.
  • There are much better cameras in the same price range.
  • The battery life could have been bigger and better.
  • There’s no wireless charging option.
  • It feels a little bulky.

Although the OnePlus 7T Pro is appealing to the eyes, it does not offer any major improvement over the OnePlus 7 Pro – you can find almost all the essential features in the earlier version. The latest version features a new macro camera mode, and a slightly bigger battery and a processor that is pretty fast at executing graphical-intensive tasks. Also, at this price range, one would expect a dominant front camera with powerful specs.

Expert Opinion

Loaded with spectacular features and a top-notch design, the OnePlus 7T Pro might just be the most fabulous flagship from OnePlus, which is giving serious competition to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Pixel 4. Although the OnePlus 7T Pro builds on its predecessor, the OnePlus 7 Pro, it has a lot to boast of.

The big display is one of the most attractive features of the OnePlus 7T Pro. At 6.67-inch, the curved notch-less display offers an expansive viewing space. The screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and a high pixel density allows the colors to pop beautifully. The display is crisp and bright with excellent sharpness and contrast under most lighting conditions. Another notable feature of the display is that it has a 90Hz refresh rate for super-smooth scrolling and gaming. What this means is that the display refreshes 1.5 times faster than the screen of other phones (that are lacking this particular spec). This causes things to appear smoother.

Gaming, binge-watching movies, or streaming videos, everything is an excellent experience on the OnePlus 7T Pro. There are plenty of customization options available in the display settings along with three presets of screen calibrations (lets you switch between refresh rates and screen resolution) and a video enhancer as well.

Another commendable feature of the OnePlus 7T Pro is the fall detection feature that alerts the camera to retract when the phone falls. The in-display fingerprint sensor is highly responsive in unlocking the phone.

OnePlus never compromises with design, and that has always been evident right from the launch of its first model, the OnePlus One. The OnePlus 7T Pro carries forward that baton of impressive design with a large display and shiny features. On the front, you get a bezel-less screen with a pop-up motorized selfie camera that can both appear and disappear automatically as you toggle in and out of selfie mode. This has allowed OnePlus to do away with the notch altogether.

The best way to differentiate between the new OnePlus 7T Pro and the OnePlus 7T is by the color – OnePlus 7T Pro comes only in one color, Haze Blue. The color is much lighter than the Nebula Blue variant of its predecessor. As for the McLaren Edition, it features a shiny black body with orange finishings. Also, the McLaren Edition comes with themed accessories. The sides of the phone are curved (a head-turner for sure!). However, it is not for one-hand usage – the big size calls for two hands for comfortable handling.

At the back, the OnePlus 7T Pro flaunts a frosted, matte textured glass that does not attract fingerprints. The triple-cam module sits flush at the top middle portion of the rear panel. Apart from the color, the other differentiating feature of the OnePlus 7T Pro is the placement of the laser autofocus sensor on the rear. The autofocus has been shifted from within the camera strip to the left side of the camera module.

The other crucial design elements are pretty much the same. There’s 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection both on the front and back. You get a pop-up selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

All the buttons and ports sit at the same place. At the right, there’s a textured alert slider, and at the bottom, you get a SIM tray, USB-C port, and a single speaker. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack.

OnePlus has upgraded the Snapdragon 855 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. According to Qualcomm, the new 855 Plus boasts of a 15% improvement in rendering graphical performance – the chip’s ‘Prime’ core runs at higher clock speed. Naturally, the phone delivers a smooth performance without slowing down or lagging, ever. For everyday usage (calling, texting, etc.), the phone is a stellar performer.

When it comes to high-resolution games like Call of Duty, PUBG, and Asphalt, the OnePlus 7T Pro never falters – there’s no hiccups or lags whatsoever. The 90Hz display allows for easy scrolling through the menu. It comes in handy for games like Rayman Adventures that can use it to its full potential, running at the full 90Hz refresh rate. Even while switching between apps, the phone delivers a seamless performance. The massive 8GB RAM, along with the powerful processor, is to be credited for the snappy performance of the OnePlus 7T Pro.

OnePlus has always been a winner when it comes to software. This time around OnePlus pleases with its custom Android skin, the OxygenOS. The new OnePlus 7T Pro gets the upgraded version of the customer OS, OxygenOS 10, based on Android 10. As compared to OxygenOS 9.5 (seen in the OnePlus 7 Pro), the upgraded version comes with many changes. Also, the security is up-to-date too. The new Oxygen OS 10 is exceptionally smooth.

The OnePlus 7T Pro sports a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP telephoto lens. Although this is a significant improvement over the 7 Pro camera, given the price range, it could have been better.

The triple cameras offer fantastic image sharpness and color accuracy, however, it still falls behind the cameras of Samsung S10e and Google Pixel 3A in the same price range. In daylight, the OnePlus 7T Pro can capture rich details and colors. The HDR and exposure are well-balanced with a good dynamic range (even with backlit objects). The overlay buttons in the viewfinder help you toggle between the three camera sensors quickly. The camera app has some new features, including the Super Macro mode and the ability to use Nightscape with the wide-angle sensor. The Nightscape mode delivers better shots than the OnePlus 7 Pro.

The camera app lets you use either the telephoto lens (for close-ups) or the primary lens (if you want more of the background in the frame). The Portrait mode offers satisfactory results.

The ultra-wide camera comes in handy, particularly when you are trying to fit in a lot into one scene. Apart from the improved quality of shots, it can now handle exposure more accurately. As for the telephoto lens, it allows you to zoom in on subjects without compromising on the image quality.

The 16MP pop-up front camera fails to impress. While it does deliver social media worthy selfies, low-light photography is disappointing. In low-lit settings, the captured shots lack detail and depict a significant amount of noise. You can record videos up to 1080p with the front camera.

As mentioned earlier, the OnePlus 7T Pro gets a slight improvement over its predecessor on the battery front. The 4085 mAh battery is good enough to last you a full day for light to medium usage, including calling, listening to music, streaming videos, browsing, etc. The phone makes use of OnePlus’ new Warp Charge 30T that can charge 23% faster than the Warp Charge 30 of the 7 Pro. It can charge the phone very fast without making it too warm.

Connectivity options in the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11, a/ac/b/g/n/n 5GHz, MIMO, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS with A-GPS and Glonass, Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyroscope, and an in-display Fingerprint Sensor.

After taking a close look at the OnePlus 7T Pro, we feel as if OnePlus had to upgrade the old OnePlus 7 Pro so that it doesn’t look outdated in the contemporary market. The punchy screen, the top-notch performance of OxygenOS 10, and the super-fast charging are few of the noteworthy and welcome inclusions. While these make the new OnePlus 7T Pro a commendable smartphone, one might feel unreasonable to pay more for a handful of features when you can get most of them in the earlier version.

However, if you are a die-hard fan of OnePlus phones, this is a must-try!
