    About the Phone

Sony Xperia 1 look like a unique beauty and it acts as one too. It has a few pros and cons:

    • The Xperia 1 has a classy design with IP-68 waterproofing.
    • The Xperia 1 has a 4K HDR OLED display which gives in a cinematic experience.
    • The phone has a 21:9 display, which is a director special aspect ratio.
    • The Xperia 1 is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 855 chipset which ensures fast performance.
    • The cameras on the phone is top-notch with several new features like Eye Tracking Autofocus.

    • The phone does not have a headphone jack.
    • You cannot record 4K video at 60fps.
    • The battery life of this phone is poor.
    • THe phone does not come with wireless charging.
    • The Xperia 1 does not support Wi-Fi 6 though the chipset can support it.

Overall, the Xperia 1 is a great set that is recommended for any Sony fan looking for an amazing cinematic experience.

The Sony Xperia 1 is the revamped version of the Xperia series. Priced at Rs. 73,990, the phone offers a delightful 21:9 aspect ratio along with 4K OLED screen delivering an immersive experience.

The Sony Xperia 1 does not only deliver an amazing display, but it packs a punch in its performance and cameras too. It is a decent all-rounder but not flawless. It has a poor battery without wireless charging. However, if you want a cinematic experience, then you can’t go wrong with the Xperia 1.

Sony Xperia 1 is a beautiful design. It has a classic look without a gaudy gradient which makes it stand out. The screen has a fancy edge and the build goes for a premium finish. On the front, you get a Gorilla Glass 6 which keeps it secure. On the flip side, the back has an aluminum frame with curved glass making it rigid. The phone is quite simple to handle even though it is slippery and glossy at the back. The bottom consists of the USB Type-C port. On the right side, the phone comes with three buttons: power button, two-step camera shutter and the volume rocker. The fingerprint scanner is in-between and while it is ergonomically placed, it is not always accurate. The big shortcoming of the phone is that it attracts a lot of smudges. The phone is quite tall and though it can be pocketable, it might feel unnatural.

On the end of the display, the phone comes with a 6.5″ inch OLED display which delivers 4K cinematic experience. It is the first time that 4K and OLED comes together. It is called Cinema Wide by Sony. The resolution is 1644×3840. The phone comes with a magnificent pixel desincy of 643 ppi. The display is punchy and sharp. You will not have a problem with working on the screen. One of the concerning aspects is the 21:9 aspect ratio of the phone. It is new and it might seem like there are no content online. But in 2019, many content are coming out with this aspect ratio, delivering you the wonderful immersive experience that you desire.

The Sony Xperia 1 is a power packer, arrives with the powerful Snapdragon 855. Plus, it comes with a sizable 6GB RAM paired with it. THe phone can handle multitasking easily without facing any lag. It can handle anything that is thrown at it. Plus, the phone arrives with a Adreno 640 GPU which is capable of handling the graphics processing of any high-end games. One of the problems with the phone is that it does not have Wi-Fi 6 compatibility. With the latest tech, Wi-Fi 6 compatibility was expected but while it is an odd miss, it does not make the phone wanting.

The Xperia 1 is the first Sony handset that comes with a triple camera setup. It has a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. It also has the ability to take 960fps FUllHD slo-mo videos. There are a few new features in this phone. It has optical image stabilization known as Sony’s SteadyShot stabilization feature. It also has Eye Tracking Autofocus which is based on Face Tracking and is quite seamless. There is however a bit of lag when you switch from camera to camera. The Superior Auto mode is an AI-integration which judges the scene before taking the shot. It works quite well on this handset. In daylight, the colours are quite popping and vibrant. The details captured by the camera is quite decent. Even low-light shots are quite good with plenty of details along with negligible noise. The only problem with this phone is the Autofocus, which, albeit reliable, fails to do speedy locking as expected. The 8MP selfie camera of Sony Xperia 1 is quite good and can click punchy selfies in ideal light conditions. However, in low-light, the picture quality softens. The phone cannot record 4K videos in 60fps.

The Sony Xperia 1 gets its fuel from a 3,300 mAh battery. It is quite a tiny battery and while it does have the Battery Care and Smart Stamina options, the battery seems quite poor. It tends to go about 11 hours with constant video playback and about 9 hours with Wi-Fi web-browsing. Plus, the phone takes about 1 hours 45 minutes to reach full charge, which is good, but not as good as many other fast-charging phones. It does not have wireless charging which is a disappointment.

As a 4K OLED screen, the Sony Xperia 1 has everything that will give you a cinematic experience. With the 21:9 aspect ratio, you can get to see the videos in the way that director’s shot it. Plus, you get a lot of power under the hood. However, not everything is well with Sony. It comes with a poor battery that drains quite easily. Plus, the selfie camera experience delivered by this phone is quite poor. Overall, the phone is a great handset with a few hits and misses in some minor aspects. As a revamped Xperia model, Xperia 1 seems to be making a good start.
