The Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max battery leak has revealed new details about Apple’s next flagship smartphone. It suggests a notable improvement in battery capacity. According to a recent report, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a significantly larger battery than its predecessor. It will have a capacity varying by market.
The leak claims that the US version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max may pack a battery close to 5,500 mAh. Meanwhile, the global version with a physical nano SIM slot could feature a slightly smaller battery due to the space occupied by the SIM tray. Apple may unveil the iPhone 18 series in September 2026.
iPhone 18 Pro Max Battery Leak: Larger Battery Expected Across Regions

According to the latest leak, Apple plans to increase the battery capacity on both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The battery size is expected to differ slightly between the US and global variants.
Rumoured battery capacities:
- Apple iPhone 18 Pro (Global): 4,056mAh

For comparison, the previous generation features as follows:
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro (Global): 3,998mAh
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro (US): 4,252mAh
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (Global): 4,823mAh
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (US): 5,088mAh
The increase means the global iPhone 18 Pro Max could gain around 412mAh. Whereas, the US model may receive an additional 337mAh over the previous generation.
Apple May Challenge Rivals With Better Battery Life
The iPhone 18 Pro Max battery leak also supports an earlier report from tipster Digital Chat Station, who claimed Apple’s next Pro Max model would finally offer a battery well above 5,000mAh.
The larger battery, combined with the rumoured 2nm A20 Pro chipset, could deliver noticeable improvements in battery life and power efficiency. Apple has traditionally relied on software and hardware optimisation rather than simply increasing battery capacity, so the upgrade could make the new flagship even more competitive.
Competition in the premium smartphone segment is also heating up. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a 5,500mAh battery, while Chinese flagship phones from Xiaomi, OPPO, and OnePlus already offer batteries as large as 7,500mAh.
Although Apple has not officially confirmed these details, the latest rumours suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max could deliver one of the biggest battery upgrades in the company’s recent history. More information is expected to emerge ahead of the anticipated September 2026 launch.
