The Poco M8 Power launch could be closer than expected, according to a new leak. Soon after Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 series in China, fresh reports suggest that Poco is preparing to bring a similar device to India under a new name. The upcoming Poco M8 Power may arrive as a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 17. This follows Xiaomi’s long-standing strategy of launching Redmi phones under the Poco brand in selected markets.
A recent leak claims that references found in HyperOS source code point to the existence of the Poco M8 Power. In contrast, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the smartphone. However, earlier sightings on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification platform have also hinted that the device may launch in India soon.
Poco M8 Power Launch Could Bring Redmi Note 17 Hardware

According to the leak, the Poco M8 Power carries the model number 2602IPC8I. While its Redmi counterpart reportedly uses the model number 26021RN18I, believed to be the Redmi Note 17.
If the information turns out to be accurate, the Poco M8 Power could offer almost the same hardware and features as the Redmi Note 17 that recently debuted in China.

Expected specifications include:
- 8,000mAh battery (India variant)
- 45W wired fast charging
- 22.5W reverse wired charging
- Similar design and hardware as Redmi Note 17
- HyperOS software experience
The smartphone is expected to target users looking for long battery life and reliable everyday performance.
Global Models May Get Smaller Batteries
The leak also suggests Xiaomi may follow different battery strategies for different markets. While the Indian version of the Redmi Note 17 will keep the large 8,000mAh battery seen in China, the global version could launch with a slightly smaller 7,700mAh battery.
A similar approach may also be used for the Redmi Note 17 Pro. The Chinese model features a 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, while the global version is tipped to pack a smaller 8,340mAh battery.
Apart from the battery changes, the global Redmi Note 17 series is expected to retain most of the Chinese model’s specifications. However, reports suggest Xiaomi could replace the Chinese variant’s 2MP depth sensor with an 8MP ultra wide camera for international markets.
Although Xiaomi has not officially announced the Poco M8 Power launch, the latest leaks indicate that the smartphone could arrive in India in the coming months with flagship level battery capacity and familiar Redmi Note 17 hardware. If launched at an aggressive price, the Poco M8 Power could become an attractive option in India’s competitive budget smartphone segment.
