According to Counterpoint Research’s Market Pulse Service, Samsung’s smartphone sales increased by 9 percent year over year in April 2022, gaining 24 per cent of the global smartphone market. Samsung has had the greatest monthly market share since April 2017.  Despite global smartphone sales falling 8 per cent year over year during the same period, the company’s sales increased. It was one of the few brands that grew despite the market’s collapse.

Due to this rise, Samsung was able to lead the global smartphone market sales for the third month in a row in 2022. In April, it also became the No. 1 brand in India for the first time since August 2020.

“Samsung captured close to one-fourth of the worldwide smartphone market in April 2022, reaching its best single-month share in the last five years,” Research Director Tarun Pathak remarked of Samsung’s April 2022 performance.

This was due to the S22 series’ great performance in the luxury market and the A series’ strong performance in the mid-segment. Samsung also had little exposure to China’s deteriorating market, which hurt sales for all Chinese OEMs.

Samsung

Company increased its market share in April thanks to promotions in several of its key areas. Samsung’s supply chain management has been solid through 2022, successfully meeting demand.”

Senior Analyst Varun Mishra remarked of the global smartphone industry, “The worldwide smartphone market decreased further in April 2022, hitting the lowest level since the pandemic in 2020. In April, sales in Russia fell as a result of significant OEMs exiting the market and inventory depletion.

These reasons caused the market to suffer even another setback, while it was still recovering from component shortages. The only markets to expand were LATAM, the United States, and India.

In Q2 2022, Samsung is expected to maintain its top position in the worldwide smartphone market. The brand is presently the clear leader in the foldables market, which has a lot of potential. To achieve a competitive advantage, comwpny plans to lower the price of foldable phones.
