  • Meta is now testing WhatsApp Plus subscription on Android beta devices. A small group of users can already see the new paid plan inside the app. Meta wants to earn subscription revenue from WhatsApp, just like it has started doing on Instagram. Thus, the best part? All core features stay completely free.

    WhatsApp Plus Subscription

WhatsApp Plus focuses on personalisation. It does not change how messaging works. Also, it simply adds extra features on top of the free version. No existing features are removed or locked away.

Here is what the WhatsApp Plus subscription offers:

    • Premium stickers — New sticker packs with full-screen animated effects, visible even to non-subscribers
    • Theme customisation — Choose from 18 accent colours to replace WhatsApp’s default green
    • Alternate app icons — Pick from 14 icon styles, from clean minimal to bold textured designs
    • More pinned chats — Pin up to 20 chats, up from the current limit of just 3
    • Exclusive ringtones — Unique tones for calls and notifications
    • Bulk chat controls — Apply themes and notification settings across all chats at once

WhatsApp will add more features over time based on user feedback.

Subscription Price, Availability, and Free Features

The WhatsApp Plus subscription is currently limited to Android beta testers. Pricing varies by region. Early reports suggest a monthly fee of around USD 2.99 (approximately Rs 250). The plan auto-renews each month. Users can cancel anytime. A free trial may also be available in select markets. iOS support is planned, but has no confirmed launch date yet.

All core WhatsApp features remain free. This includes messages, voice calls, video calls, status updates, and end-to-end encryption. Privacy is not affected.

This model is similar to Telegram Premium, with optional extras for those who want them, without taking anything away from free users. The WhatsApp Plus subscription will appeal most to users who love personalisation or manage many conversations daily.
