Nokia 8.3 5G is a premium smartphone from Nokia released in March 2020 alongside budget and affordable smartphones such as Nokia 5.3 and 1.3. The Nokia 8.3 5G is the cheapest 5G phone available at just $646 in the United States or around Rs.47,890/- price in India. The brilliantly designed phone is a true 5G device and arrives with one of the best processors, the Snapdragon 765G.
The device is available in two variants i.e. 6GB RAM + 64GB storage or you can check out the larger 8GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage.
Nokia is a well-known smartphone brand and there’s no doubt it pays a lot of attention towards the designs of their phones. Nokia 8.3 5G isn’t any exception. With an aluminium frame and front/back glass, the design will surely impress you. It follows the Nordic design of reflecting lights which looks really premium. At the back, the phone has a rather uncommon camera setup. It is a circular camera bump with its rear quad-camera setup arranged in a square with each lens taking up the place of a vertex of a square. You’ll find the volume rockers on the right side along with power button with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the power button itself. The Nokia 8.3 5G is available in Polar Night colour.
Nokia 8.3 5G sports a giant 6.81-inch FHD+ display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The display is vivid and punchy although it falls short of OLED panels which are considered as the staple of perfection. There’s no notch at the front but a small punch-hole sensor at the top-left and tiny bezels around the edges although the chin is slightly thicker. The colours come out sharp, thanks to the PureDisplay technology.
Talking about the specs under the hood, the Nokia 8.3 5G sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 7nm chipset with Adreno 620 GPU. This puts it behind Snapdragon 855 which was the top-line processor in 2019. Yet, with better-optimized graphics rendering and 5G on the go, Snapdragon 765G does have an upper hand compared to its rivals. It also has LPDDR4X RAM to assist that chipset. The phone supports both FDD and TDD 5G networks for wider coverage although the mmWave support is yet off the table. Nokia 8.3 5G runs on pure Android One based on the latest Android 10 operating system Further, the device has 64/6GB and 128/8GB variants that you can choose from with a dedicated microSDXC slot to add a few gigs of storage if needed.
Nokia 8.3 5G features a powerful PureView quad-camera Zeiss Optics setup arranged as four vertices of a square in circular camera setup. The setup sports a 64MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and PDAF. It is flanked by a secondary 12MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens at 13mm focal length, AF and an aperture of f/2.2 and then, two 2MP dedicated sensors for macro and depth effects. On the other hand, the front is a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 that can grab quality images without any hassle. There is a dual high CRI rear flash as well on the back.
The Nokia 8.3 5G packs in a battery size of 4,500 mAh which is a huge size. It is perhaps able to take more than a day on a heavy usage while light to moderate usage can end up keeping the phone on for at least one and a half or two days or even more. Nokia 8.3 5G is also backed with an 18W fast charger and USB Type-C cable so that you can enjoy your favourite movie or TV show plugging the phone for a short duration.
If you are looking for an affordable 5G phone, Nokia 8.3 5G is at your rescue. It supports both TDD and FDD networks that promise better speeds. It has a brilliant processor, a good quad-camera setup along with a decent battery life that will take care of the rest.
