About the Phone
While the Oppo F5 Youth may resemble the Oppo F5, it has some unique design distinctions as well as differences in its internal specifications. Some of the pros and cons are:
- It has a beautiful design which has a matte finish and a metallic touch to it.
- It has a decent display with 18:9 screen aspect ratio and enough screen space to play with.
- It has an excellent performance which is adequate for multitasking as well as running heavy games without facing any significant lag. Plus, it has a snappy Face Unlock feature.
- It has an extraordinary battery life which can last you an entire day.
- Despite having a good design, the phone does not have a real metal unibody but has a polycarbonate back panel which makes it less rigid.
- It has a measly 32 GB internet storage.
- The phone does not have the new Type-C USB port but has the older micro-USB port.
However, despite the cons, Oppo F5 Youth is a decent performer, and if you are looking for a phone for both gaming and app performance, then this is the phone to go for.
The Oppo F5 Youth arrives with the purpose to match up to its mid-range competitors with its excellent design and capable performance. Priced at Rs. 14,990, this handset is all set to make a mark in the mid-range market.
Due to its fantastic display and superior performance, Oppo F5 Youth can be considered a marvellous all-rounder in the mid-range category. However, it comes with limited space, which can be a problem if you are looking forward to storing a lot of apps in the internal memory. Otherwise, the phone is quite a capable handset, suitable for both gaming as well as watching videos for an immersive experience. You can get an all-round user experience from this phone.
Oppo F5 Youth arrives with a unibody design with curved edges and thin bezels making it look quite premium. It has a polycarbonate back panel with a matte finish that has a metallic look to it. The F5 Youth seems quite similar to F5, but it has distinguishing silver-coated lines near the top edges. The screen has the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which gives it a layer of protection. There is a dedicated fingerprint scanner located at the rear panel and is quite ergonomic. However, the phone is quite big and might need two hands to control it efficiently. Plus, the screen is a fingerprint magnet due to the additional screens. The phone retains the 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a micro-USB port, present at the bottom. However, the internal storage of Oppo F5 Youth is not its best point, coming with a measly 32GB only.
The F5 Youth comes with a 6-inch TFT-LTPS display with an aspect ratio 18:9. It has an 84.75% screen-to-body ratio due to its thin bezels and thus, it gives an immersive experience. Plus, the display has a resolution of 2160 x 1080. The colours are quite crisp and punchy, and the contrast is quite accurate. The only problem is that it provides the same depth levels as an AMOLED screen does. The viewing angles are quite good, and even in harsh sunlight, there are no visibility issues.
Oppo F5 Youth is power by MediaTek MT6763T octa-core processor which is paired with the ARM Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. It also has 3GB RAM. Apps load quite fast, and multitasking does not pose any problem. Even the Facial ID and fingerprint scanners are quite snappy. It records a score of 64,71 in Antutu which is quite decent. It can run both light and heavy games in full settings. However, sometimes it might falter to get 60fps when it comes to heavy games at the highest setting. One of the problems with this set is that it tends to warm up especially during heavy gaming sessions, which might affect the internals of the phone. Regarding video playback at 1080p, there were no noticeable frame drops, indicating a powerful processor.
The F5 Youth has a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2. It has autofocus and LED flash as well. The image quality is quite good, and it captures sharp colours and sufficient details. While it does have an incredible dynamic range, there are certain angles when the photos might appear dark. In ideal light conditions, the images capture a lot of details and the autofocus is quite snappy.
In low light conditions, the camera does not underperform. Images in low-light settings can appear a bit grainy, but overall, they still capture enough details, and the colours remain quite prominent.
The F5 Youth features a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 sensors and AI beautification technology. The AI can detect up to 200 facial points, thereby providing a lot more accuracy. There is also 1-6 levels of beauty mode which can give you a lot of variants when you are trying to click your perfect selfies. The depth effect can also create artificial bokeh shots. The images come out excellent and adequate for social media use. With the right focus, the colours remain vibrant too. Regarding videos, the F5 Youth can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. However, the camera can take some time to refocus while shooting videos resulting in a pulsating effect.
The F5 Youth has a decent 3,200 mAh battery. Running a 1080p video on repeat at 50% brightness and volume saw that the device was able to last for about 14 hours and 28 minutes. PCMark Battery test recorded 12 hours and 8-minute lasting time. As per the criteria, the battery performed well in real time too. With moderate use, it was able to go on for an entire day on a single charge. Even the charging is quite fast, getting from 0% to 100% in under 2 hours.
The OPPO F5 Youth looks quite similar to the F5, but it comes with its own set of modifications. The cameras steal the show with amazing AI integration and ability to capture decent pictures even in low-light conditions. It comes with a powerful performance and a juicy battery too, which lasts long. The only limitation is the reduced storage and the warming up of the handset during heavy gaming period. Otherwise, if you are looking for an all-rounder in terms of performance and looks, then Oppo F5 Youth can be a great choice.
