Xiaomi 17T Design and Build
Xiaomi 17T comes with a similar design to the Xiaomi 16T, but now it features a more refined design and a better overall finish. Its camera module does not wobble much, which improves the overall in-hand feel and grip.

The phone has a body dimension of 157.6 x 75.2 x 8.2mm. So, the 8.2mm thickness may look a bit higher at a time when most brands are moving towards slimmer designs. However, flagship features like a dedicated telephoto camera and a larger battery make this additional thickness a positive trade-off.

Overall, the frame is made of durable plastic with a glass-fibre reinforced plastic back, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection to safeguard the device against accidental damage.

Moreover, it comes with an IP68 rating, making it dust-tight and water-resistant, and it can survive immersion in up to 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. During my Xiaomi 17T review, I couldn’t test its water resistance in real-life conditions, but you shouldn’t worry about using it in drizzling rain or light wet conditions.

Talking about the ports, the right side houses the volume rocker and power button, while the top and left sides remain completely clean. Meanwhile, the bottom includes the SIM tray, speaker grille, USB Type-C port, and primary microphone. Overall, the Xiaomi 17T design impressed me, and even the protective case included in the box felt premium and offered good quality.
Xiaomi 17T Camera
Honestly, the Xiaomi 17T camera has two faces. It captures eye-catching photos in daylight and during the golden hour, producing social media-ready images.

However, in nighttime or harsh lighting conditions, you may notice some grain and occasional overexposure. The phone features a 50MP primary camera, 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

I tested the camera at Qutub Minar, Delhi, where it delivered some excellent architectural shots. Images captured during twilight had impressive detailing, vibrant colours, and good saturation.

Xiaomi does boost colours slightly, but the results still look natural and visually appealing. The dynamic range is also excellent, preserving details in both bright and dark areas.

The portrait mode impressed me with accurate edge detection and natural background blur. However, I wasn’t fully satisfied with human portraits in low-light or harsh lighting, where grain became noticeable. In contrast, architectural and landscape shots maintained good contrast and rich colours.

The 50MP periscope telephoto camera is one of the highlights of the Xiaomi 17T. It captures sharp zoom shots with impressive details, making it ideal for distant subjects and portrait photography.

The 32MP front camera also performs well, delivering detailed selfies with natural skin tones and balanced colours.

For videos, the Xiaomi 17T supports 4K recording, producing sharp footage with vibrant colours and good stabilisation during daylight. Overall, the Xiaomi 17T offers a versatile camera system with excellent daylight performance and a capable telephoto lens, although its low-light photography still has room for improvement.
Xiaomi 17T Battery and Charging
Xiaomi 17T also comes with a 6,500mAh battery for global models, which I’m using, while the China variant packs a 7,000mAh battery. During my usage, I got almost 15 hours of battery life on a single charge.

Throughout this period, I watched YouTube videos, streamed live cricket matches, and played a few BGMI games as well. However, battery life totally depends on your usage pattern and screen-on time.

The phone also comes with a 67W HyperCharge adapter in the box. It can charge the battery up to 55% in just 30 minutes, while a full charge from 0% to 100% takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes. You won’t get wireless charging support, but it does offer 22.5W fast reverse wired charging. So, you can use the Xiaomi 17T to charge another smartphone, your earbuds, or even a smartwatch using its reverse charging feature.
Xiaomi 17T Display
Xiaomi 17T also comes with a great display for gaming and watching videos. It features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with Dolby Vision support.

The phone also supports HDR10+, allowing you to enjoy higher-quality videos with better colours, contrast, and deeper blacks. So, you can watch HDR content on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and other supported platforms with an immersive viewing experience.

The phone also features a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling, gaming, and everyday navigation feel smooth and responsive. It offers up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, ensuring excellent visibility even under direct sunlight.

I used this phone outdoors in bright daylight, and the display remained perfectly visible without any major issues.

In terms of display quality, the Xiaomi 17T has a 1268 × 2756-pixel resolution with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, resulting in a sharp 460 PPI pixel density. It also offers an impressive 89.8% screen-to-body ratio, providing a more immersive viewing experience with slimmer bezels.

For durability, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i with Mohs Level 5 scratch resistance, helping protect the screen from everyday scratches and accidental damage.
Overall, I really liked the Xiaomi 17T’s display. Whether I was watching movies, streaming live sports, browsing social media, or playing games, the screen delivered vibrant colours, sharp details, and smooth performance. I didn’t face any visibility issues outdoors, making it one of the strong highlights of the device.
Xiaomi 17T Performance
Xiaomi 17T is not a top-tier flagship device, but it still offers amazing performance thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra (4nm) chipset. This processor stands out because its modern 4nm architecture delivers a great balance between powerful performance and excellent power efficiency, making it suitable for heavy multitasking as well as everyday use.

Thanks to its high clock speed, app launches are quick, and multitasking feels smooth. Moreover, the 4nm fabrication process helps minimise power consumption during regular usage. The MediaTek NPU 880 also improves AI performance by reducing camera shutter lag and processing AI-powered image editing much faster. During my Xiaomi 17T review, I never faced any major heating issues while playing BGMI. At times, I played continuously for almost three hours, yet the thermal management remained excellent without noticeable performance drops.
The UFS 4.1 storage also plays an important role in the overall performance. It allows multiple apps to remain active in the background without frequent reloads. I even opened BGMI in the evening after leaving it running in the background for several hours, and the game resumed without restarting, which reflects the phone’s efficient memory management.

I also ran several Benchmark tests on the Xiaomi 17T to assess its performance across different aspects. Its Geekbench scores are 1614 in single-core and 5850 in multi-core. The maximum in the CPU throttling test is 87 per cent. Moreover, its Antutu score is 1434316. The 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test for stability has an overall score of 63.2%.
Overall, the Xiaomi 17T performance review is excellent. It delivers fast, reliable performance for gaming, multitasking, content consumption, and daily use. Unless you’re looking for absolute flagship-level power, this chipset is more than capable of handling almost everything with ease.
Xiaomi 17T Software and UI
The Xiaomi 17T runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi has promised 4 major Android updates and 6 years of security patches, ensuring the device stays updated with the latest features and security improvements for years to come.

HyperOS 3 offers a smooth and highly customisable user experience, especially for users who spend a lot of time on their smartphones. The animations and transitions feel fluid, while apps open and close quickly, making everyday usage feel responsive.

However, Xiaomi still includes a few pre-installed apps and games. The good thing is that most of them can be easily uninstalled if you prefer a cleaner interface.

On the AI front, Xiaomi has added several useful features, including AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, AI Search, and AI Interpreter for real-time translations.

You also get AI Dynamic Wallpapers, native Google Gemini integration, and Circle to Search, all of which genuinely improve productivity instead of feeling like unnecessary additions.

Overall, I found the software experience on the Xiaomi 17T to be smooth, feature-rich, and easy to use. Combined with Xiaomi’s long-term software support, HyperOS 3 makes the phone feel modern and future-ready.
The Xiaomi 17T is a well-rounded premium smartphone that gets most things right. It delivers an excellent display, reliable battery life, strong everyday performance, and a versatile camera system led by an impressive telephoto lens. While low-light photography and the lack of wireless charging leave room for improvement, they aren’t deal-breakers. If you’re looking for a phone that excels in multimedia, gaming, battery life, and daylight photography without stepping into ultra-premium flagship pricing, the Xiaomi 17T is an easy recommendation.
