One of the most popular government banks in India, the State Bank of India, has crores of customers with savings account in the bank. If you too have an account in the SBI, then you must know how important it is to keep your mobile number updated in the bank. By doing so, you can keep track of all the transactions done through your account.
However, a lot of people find it difficult to change their registered mobile numbers in SBI. But worry not, here we are going to talk about the easiest ways to change your registered mobile numbers in SBI.

Method 1: Change the registered mobile number in SBI via Internet banking

- Visit the official website of SBI- OnlineSBI.
- Log in to your account. Now, go to the “Profile” tab.
- There, click on the “Personal details” link.
- Now, enter your profile password. You would be able to see the Display Name, Email ID and Registered mobile number.
- Click on the link that says “Change Mobile Number- Domestic Only (Through OTP/ATM).
- A new screen will appear. There you would be asked to enter the new mobile number. Enter and submit it.
- A pop-up message “Verify and Confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx” will appear on the screen.
- Click on “Ok” to proceed.
- A new screen with two different modes for approval of change of mobile number will be displayed:
a)By OTP on both mobile numbers.
b) IRATA: Internet banking requests approval through ATM.

a) By OTP on both the mobile number:
If you have both the new and old mobile numbers, then with the help of OTP, the mobile number change can be approved.
- Click on the circular button that says “By OTP on both the Mobile Number” and click on “Proceed”.
- Now select the account for which you have the debit card and Proceed.
- Next, click on the active ATM card and select “Confirm”.
- The next screen would display the selected ATM card number.
- Enter the card details, i.e., Valid To/Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN and enter the text shown in the image there and finally click on Proceed.
- Upon successful validation, the system would send OTP along with a reference number on both your new and old numbers.
- Now, you would need to send an SMS from both your new and old numbers in the following format: ACTIVATE <8 Digit OTP Value> <13 Digit Reference Number> to 567676 within 4 hrs. For example, ACTIVATE 09876543 UMI12051500123.
- Once the SMS validation is done successfully, the new number would be automatically copied into Internet banking, core banking solution, and ATMs. You will also get a message regarding the successful updation of the number on your mobile.
b) IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM:
- Click on the circular button that says “IRATA: Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM” and Proceed.
- Now select the account for which you have the debit card and Proceed.
- Next, click on the active ATM card and select “Confirm”.
- The next screen would display the selected ATM card number.
- Enter the card details i.e., Valid To/Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN and then enter the text shown in the image there and finally click on Proceed.
- Once the validation is done successfully, you will receive the following message: “Thanks for registering your mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option selected by you. Click here to see the guidelines for process completion.”
- Then you will get an SMS saying “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX” on your new mobile number.
- After getting this message, you need to visit the State Bank Group ATM, swipe your card and select the Services option. Enter your PIN.
- Now, click on the “Others” tab on the ATM screen to choose ‘Internet Banking Request Approval’ and then enter the 10-digit reference number for approval of the request.
- The request would be fulfilled upon successful completion of this process.
- Finally, after the validation, your new mobile number would be updated in the Internet Banking, Core banking solution and ATM. You will also get a message for the same.

Method 2: Change Registered Mobile Number in SBI Via SBI ATM

- Visit your nearest SBI ATM and insert your debit card.
- Click on Registration and enter your ATM PIN.
- Click on the “Update your mobile number” option.
- Now, enter the old mobile number and confirm it.
- Next, enter the new mobile number and click on Submit.
- You will receive OTP on both of your numbers.
- After getting the OTP, you need to send an SMS to 567676 from the new number.
- Your number will be updated after the successful validation.
Method 3: Change Registered Mobile Number in SBI via SBI Branch

- Visit your nearest SBI Branch.
- Ask for a Letter of Request.
- Fill in the required details and hand it over to the executive.
- The number would be updated by the branch after successful verification.
- Once done, you will receive a message for the same on your registered mobile number.
