  • The much-awaited ColorOS 16.1 rollout is officially on the way, as Oppo has revealed the full update schedule along with the list of supported devices. After teasing the update last week, the company has now confirmed that the stable rollout will begin in May 2026, while the beta program starts earlier for select flagship smartphones.

    The announcement came through Oppo’s official Weibo post, giving users a clear timeline for both beta testing and stable release phases. For users waiting to try the new features, this rollout brings a mix of visual upgrades and functional improvements.

    ColorOS 16.1 eligible devices revealed

    Oppo has already opened applications for the beta version of ColorOS 16.1, with registrations closing on April 17. The company will review applications between April 18 and April 24, and approved users will begin receiving the beta update from April 21.

    However, the beta program is limited to premium devices, including the Oppo Find X9 series and the OnePlus 15.

    The stable ColorOS 16.1 rollout will happen in two phases:

    Batch 1 (May 10 – May 20, 2026):

    Batch 2 (May 21 – May 31, 2026):

    New Features And Improvements In This Update

    The update introduces several user-focused upgrades and design changes. Key highlights include:

    • Revamped Live Activities with support for calls, recorder, timer, flashlight, and maps
    • New stacked notification center for better organization
    • iOS-style media player on the lock screen
    • Pill-shaped UI element similar to Samsung’s Now Bar
    • Smoother animations and improved transitions

    For now, this rollout applies only to devices in China, but a global schedule is expected soon. Meanwhile, Oppo has also started testing Android 17, hinting at its next major software upgrade already in progress.
