Zomato stated that it will deliver meals to users in a record-breaking 10 minutes, without putting any burden on its delivery partners. Zomato Instant will be the name of this service. This comes as Zomato extends a $150 million loan to Blinkit, previously Grofers. It is a rapid commerce company that claims delivery in 10 minutes. In other cities, rivals Zepto and Swiggy Instamart are also providing 10-minute delivery.

“Innovating and leading from the front is the only way to survive (and hence prosper) in the tech business,” Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said in a blog post. And here we are… with Zomato Instant, our 10-minute food delivery service.”

Each of Zomato’s finishing stations, according to Goyal, would feature bestselling items (about 20-30 meals). Starting from multiple eateries depending on demand predictability and hyperlocal preferences.

“We estimate that the pricing for the client would be greatly decreased due to demand predictability at a hyperlocal level, but the absolute rupee margin/income for our restaurant and delivery partners will stay the same.”

“If Zomato Instant works as planned, it will have a significant impact on affordability (at least a 50% reduction in cost to the end customer), accessibility (delivery times will be reduced from an average of 30 minutes to under 10 minutes), and quality (with control over the supply chain. Moreover, we will be able to ensure the highest grade ingredients and hygiene practices across the supply chain),” Goyal said.

The company further stated that late deliveries will not result in penalties for delivery partners. “The delivery partners are unaware of the guaranteed delivery time. “Time optimization does not occur on the road, and it does not endanger anyone’s life,” Goyal explained. Goyal claims that the rapid delivery would be without compromises and will be based on eight criteria, including the finest quality of fresh food and world-class cleanliness measures, among others.
