    Members of Congress from both parties request that Google halt its collecting of location data. It is citing the opportunity to determine women seeking abortions as one example.     According to the letter, it’s common for Google to share “historical location information on hundreds of millions of smartphone users” with government authorities.

    They did not immediately return a message left with Alphabet seeking comment. However, IT businesses have widely avoided abortion. For example, it claims that Facebook’s parent company Meta informs its staff that discussing abortion in the office is no offence. Without further remark, we reached out to Meta for comment.

    Democrats, led by Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon, have sent a letter to Google asking them to cease keeping track of its users’ every step.

    The letter argues that law enforcement agents often get court orders requiring Google to provide the location information of its users. Moreover, this includes “geofence” orders, which are requests to share information on everyone near a specific area at a particular time.
