Google Pay, a popular digital payment platform, will now charge convenience fee of Rs 3 for users opting to recharge their phones using the UPI (Unified Payments Interface) service.
This development marks a shift in Google Pay’s policy, as it previously did not impose any additional charges for such transactions. The Rs 3 fee will be applicable when users purchase prepaid plans through Google Pay.
This move brings Google Pay in line with other prominent online payment platform. Those apps have been charging convenience fees for similar transactions.
While Google has not officially announced the addition of this convenience fee, users discovered it when a customer posted a screenshot online.
