Apple continues to refine its AI strategy with the latest iOS 27 developer beta update. The company recently released iOS 27 Beta 2, bringing several changes to Siri AI, the revamped voice assistant powered by Apple’s new artificial intelligence models. One of the most notable changes involves how Siri handles webpage summaries.
According to a recent report, Apple has added new instructions to Siri AI’s system prompt, preventing it from generating summaries of webpages when users provide URLs. The move highlights Apple’s cautious approach to AI-generated content as it expands the capabilities of Siri.
Apple Limits Siri’s Ability to Summarize Webpages

The latest findings suggest that Apple has updated Siri AI’s internal guidelines in iOS 27 Beta 2. The new instructions reportedly tell Siri that it cannot access content behind a URL and should not attempt to summarize, read, or extract information from webpages.
The reported system prompt states that when users provide a link and ask for a summary, Siri must simply inform them that it cannot access webpages. It also directs Siri not to suggest alternative methods or workarounds.

Interestingly, Siri was already unable to generate webpage summaries directly from URLs. Unlike some competing AI assistants that can analyze web content without opening a page, Siri has traditionally required users to be actively viewing a webpage in Safari before AI-powered summaries become available.
This change appears to make Apple’s restrictions more explicit within Siri’s operating instructions.
New iOS 27 Siri Features Arrive In Beta 2
While Apple is limiting certain AI capabilities, the company is also introducing several new tools and improvements in iOS 27 Beta 2.
Reported additions include:
- New Siri AI button above the keyboard
- Quick access to AI tools in Notes
- AI integration in Mail app
- AI shortcuts in Messages
- Dedicated Insights section in Wallet app
Apple first unveiled iOS 27 and its next-generation Siri AI during WWDC 2026. The update is powered by Apple’s new foundational AI models and aims to make Siri more useful across the operating system.
As testing continues, more iOS 27 Siri features are expected to emerge before the software becomes available to all eligible iPhone users later this year.
