WhatsApp is Testing New Features to Show ETA for File Sharing

A recent report shows that WhatsApp has been working on a few new features that let users see the estimated time of arrival (ETA) when sharing files through. This feature is currently in beta testing for Android, iOS, and Web users. It would be quite a useful feature if users are sharing large-size files through the messaging app. Separately, WhatsApp has been beta testing new drawing tools for iOS users. The tools appear to include two new pencils to help enhance drawing experiences.

A report by WABetaInfo, says that the ETA for the file sharing feature will be available for testers. The beta release versions for the same are 2.22.8.11 on Android, 22.8.0.74 on iOS, and version 2.2209.3 on desktops. This feature was available for desktop testers last month. Beta testers on Android and iOS will gain access this week.

A screenshot shared in the report by WABetaInfo shows the ETA label just below the file name. The percentage status shows how much of the file has already been shared. This feature would be very useful for users if they are sharing large files.

Up to now, WhatsApp lets users transfer files up to 16 MB. However, it is said that WhatsApp is now working on a feature to allow file transfer up to 2 GB. This feature is currently only available to a few beta testers in Argentina.

Besides the ETA for sharing files, WhatsApp is also working on new drawing tools for iOS users. These tools come with the iOS beta testing version 22.8.0.73, but it is not visible to everyone.

The new tools include two pencils that are sharpened over the default marker.
