WhatsApp Expands “View Once” Messages Feature for iPhone Users
WhatsApp is testing a new privacy-focused messaging feature for iPhone beta users, expanding its disappearing message capabilities. The feature allows messages to vanish shortly after being read, offering users greater control over sensitive conversations.
Unlike the existing disappearing message options that delete chats after fixed durations such as 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days, the new system is designed around message viewing activity. Reports suggest unread messages may automatically disappear after 24 hours, while read messages are removed within minutes. Initially introduced for photos and videos, the “View Once” concept is now being extended to text messages.

Similar To Insta’s Disappearing Messages
The new WhatsApp view once messages feature is similar to Instagram’s Disappearing mode. In this mode, any message you send disappears after viewing. So this gives privacy to your messages as well, apart from just photos and videos.
Set To Roll Out Soon For All iPhones
The feature is currently available to select iOS beta testers and may soon roll out globally.
