The Nothing OS 5.0 release date is now one of the most anticipated releases for a lot of reasons. The date is August 25, 2026, at 11:00 BST, which is 3:30 PM IST. Nothing has confirmed that it will reveal new details about Nothing OS 5.0 on that date. The teaser had the line “More joy, every day”. It all give hints about the design change.
August 25 should not yet be treated as the stable release date. Nothing has confirmed an announcement for that day. It has not officially said that the full public rollout starts on August 25. A stable rollout is currently expected later in 2026, likely beginning around November.
Nothing OS 5.0 Release Date: August 25

The most important date to remember is August 25, 2026. Nothing’s teaser points to 11:00 BST, which works out to 3:30 PM IST. Reports suggest this could include information about beta testing, the new interface, and the rollout schedule.
So, if you own a Nothing phone, August 25 is the date worth watching.
Nothing has already been reported to have started closed testing for selected devices. Nothing skipped a public Android 17 beta program earlier in the cycle.

When Will Nothing OS 5.0 Stable Update Arrive?
The stable Nothing OS 5.0 rollout is expected to begin around November 2026.
Again, this is not an official stable-release date yet. It is an expected timeframe Nothing has several phones across different price ranges, and each model needs its own testing. Newer devices normally get priority. On the other hand, the older models can arrive later after additional compatibility work.
So even after the stable rollout begins, you should not assume every eligible phone will receive the update on the same day. My advice is simple: if your phone is on the expected list, do not worry if the update does not appear immediately in November. The brand is likely to use a phased rollout.
Nothing OS 5.0 Supported Devices List
Nothing has not yet published a final official Nothing OS 5.0 compatibility list. But still, we can make out some devices that are likely to get Nothing OS 5.0:
- Nothing Phone (4b)
- Nothing Phone (4a)
- Nothing Phone (4a) Pro
- Nothing Phone (3)
- Nothing Phone (3a)
- Nothing Phone (3a) Lite
- Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
- Nothing Phone (2a)
- Nothing Phone (2a) Plus
- CMF Phone 2 Pro
The newer Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, and Phone (4b) are the safest bets. They are among Nothing’s newest models. Nothing’s current phone lineup lists all three models alongside the Phone (3), Phone (3a) series, and CMF Phone 2 Pro.
The Phone (4a) currently runs Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16. It is covered by three years of OS updates plus six years of security updates. That gives it plenty of room for Android 17.
The Phone (4a) Pro follows the same Android 16 starting point. Android 17 is also a very reasonable expectation for this model.

What About The Phone (3a) Series?
The entire Phone (3a) family is expected to receive Nothing OS 5.0:
- Nothing Phone (3a)
- Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
- Nothing Phone (3a) Lite
This is good news for owners of the more affordable models. The three devices are still relatively recent.
The same logic applies to the Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus. Both models launched on Android 14-era software and received a three-year major Android update commitment.
That makes Android 17 the expected final major Android version for those phones.

CMF Phone 2 Pro should also get the update
The CMF Phone 2 Pro is also expected to receive Nothing OS 5.0.
This is an important inclusion because CMF is under the Nothing brand but targets a lower price range. Nothing has already included the device among its current smartphone lineup. If you are choosing between old Nothing phone and a CMF model, software is worth taking seriously. A newer device can make more sense if long-term Android support is one of your priorities.
Phones that are not expected to get Nothing OS 5.0
Three older models are currently expected to miss the Android 17 update:
Nothing Phone (1)
Nothing Phone (2)
CMF Phone 1
The Phone (1) was promised three years of Android updates and four years of security patches.
The Phone (2) received the same three-year major Android update commitment, plus four years of security patches.
The CMF Phone 1 has a shorter major Android update commitment, two years, plus three years of security updates.
What Can We Expect From Nothing OS 5.0?
Nothing has not published the complete Nothing OS 5.0 changelog yet. It would be premature to list every new function as confirmed. The biggest change is clear, though: Nothing OS 5.0 will be based on Android 17.
The phrase “More joy, every day” points toward a brighter and more playful design. The exact interface changes should become clearer during the August 25 announcement.
I would pay particular attention to three areas:
- The redesigned system interface and icons
- New Android 17 functions adopted by Nothing
- Changes to Nothing’s own widgets, animations, lock screen, and customization tools
In other words, getting Nothing OS 5.0 does not guarantee that every Android 17 function will appear on every model.

Should You Buy A Nothing Phone Before Nothing OS 5.0?
If you are thinking about buying a Nothing phone, I would not wait solely for Nothing OS 5.0 unless the software update is your main reason.
Newer models such as the Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (4b), and Phone (3) are the safer choices for long-term software support. The Phone (2a) series also looks solid if your budget is lower. I would be much more cautious about buying a Phone (2), Phone (1), or CMF Phone 1 specifically because you want Android 17. Those phones are not expected to receive Nothing OS 5.0.
If an older model is heavily discounted and you are happy staying on its current Android version, it can still make sense.

Final verdict
Nothing OS 5.0 looks set to be an important update. August 25 is an announcement date, not yet a confirmed stable release date. Nothing will reveal the full plan on August 25. It will then begin a broader stable rollout later in 2026, likely around November.
The expected compatibility list is fairly broad. Phone (4b), Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3), the Phone (3a) family, Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 2 Pro are all strong candidates.
