OPPO A73 5G

After launching the new OPPO A73 in October this year, which featured the rebranded version of OPPO F17, the smartphone company has now launched the 5G version of OPPO A73 in Europe and gearing up for launching the device in the Indian smartphone market soon. For clearing the doubts, Oppo A73 5G is not just a rebranded version of Oppo A73, it is featuring a different design and includes substantial differences in the internals. The newly launch belongs to the mid-range category. Here is all that you must know before Oppo A73 5G will hit the Indian shores.   

OPPO A73 5G Price in India

OPPO A73 5G belongs to the mid-range section and comes in a single variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The smartphone has been launched into two colour variants, Navy Black and Neon. Now as far as the price and availability are concerned, OPPO A73 is expected to enter the Indian smartphone market on 10th December 2020 and expected to be available at Rs. 27,999.

OPPO brand has adopted a hole-punch design on the front side while manufacturing the OPPO A73 5G. The top and bottom side are featuring noticeable bezels, the frame is made of aluminium and the back panel is made of glass, which makes OPPO A73 5G different in design from the non-4G variant OPPO A73. On the rear side, the colour gradient is divided vertically and appears attractive along with a square camera module housing three cameras along with rear flash. This obsession with having various gradient colour effects has always been there from OPPO.   

With 162.2mm of height, 75.0mm of width, 7.9mm of thickness and 178 grams of eight, Oppo A73 5G comes with a sleek and slim design. In the non-5G variant of OPPO A73, we have seen an in-display fingerprint sensor, but in this one, there is a side-mounted sensor for unlocking the OPPO A73 5G and integrated with the power button on the right side. While as the volume button is located on the left side along with the SIM tray. On the bottom side, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack along with speaker grille and Type-C charging port.

OPPO A73 5G comes with a large 6.5-inch FHD+ display. The technology that has been used while designing the display is LCD (LTPS). The 90Hz Neo display comes with 1080 pixels of resolution along with a screen ratio of 90.5% and touches a sampling rate up to 120Hz. You will be getting a pixel density of 405PPI for good visuals and the contrast ratio of 1500:1. Apart from all these features, the display of OPPO A73 supports 81.5% NTSC colour gamut and features a peak brightness of 480 nits.

Here what we have seen is that OPPO has increased the refresh rate and screen size in this latest smartphone when compared with its predecessors but reverted to the LCD technology from AMOLED, which is the first flaw of OPPO A73 5G smartphone. 

OPPO A73 5G is running on ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10. While as for enabling the 5G connectivity, OPPO A73 5G is featuring an Octa-core MediaTek Dimnesty 720 SoC, integrated into a 7nm chip. Also, OPPO A73 5G has been included with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage for background tasks. There is ARM NATT MC3 for handling the graphics.

After going through the performance parameters, it is clear that the processor is not up to date and most probably going to be a downfall for OPPO A73 5G. Although there is 8GB RAM, what is the fun of having such a huge RAM when the processor is lagging? For making this device 5G enabled, the cost-cutting has been done in this department in terms of the chipset used.

The mid-range range device from OPPO has been stuffed with a triple rear camera setup, featuring 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and the third one which is a 2MP Portrait lens. Speaking about the punch-hole on the front side, it’s housing an 8MP selfie camera. Considering the predecessors of this smartphone, OPPO A73 5G doesn’t feature an impressive camera setup, both on the front and rear side.

There is a downfall from 16MP to 8MP in the selfie camera and the 2MP Macro Lens has been removed from the rear camera module and replaced with a flash. This is something disappointing from OPPO as there are smartphones from brands like Xiaomi offering 5G connectivity along with stunning camera setup at the same price point.

OPPO A73 5G comes with a 4040 mAh battery, supporting 18W fast charging. Now what has been improved in this department is the battery capacity from its predecessors but that too by sacrificing the fast-charging capacity from 33W to 18W, just to keep the price intact. If there is 5G connectivity, then it implies that the fast charging feature is going to be crucial for the users, but OPPO has done opposite in this smartphone.

OPPO A73 5G is a smartphone mainly meant for those who are in hurry for having a 5G smartphone within the mid-range budget along with huge RAM and internal storage. If you are a gamer or love photography, then this is not the perfect one for you. There are other smartphones in the market with an upgraded processor and quad-camera setup along with 5G connectivity.
