Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Design
The design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 looks quite alike the Z Fold 2 although there are some key differences. We do have more flatter edges, it seems and the camera module is also quite different. We’ve got more of a rectangular camera module on the Z Fold 2, on the Z Fold 3, it’s more in line similar to what we’ve seen on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has been launched in three colour options including Black and Olive Green as well as white, and in terms of the overall size and dimensions, it is quite similar to the Z Fold 2, although, it is slightly smaller and slightly thinner.
The most interesting thing about the build and design, however, is the fact that the Z Fold 3 features IPX8 water resistance. Here the X means it is not going to be completely dust resistant, although Samsung has made some adjustments to the hinge design from the Flip As well as the Z fold 2, so less does actually get in. The 8 means you’ll be able to immerse the Z Fold 3 upto 30m into the water, which is quite fascinating considering the number of moving parts and how Samsung has made the whole design Water Resistant.
The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has support for the S Pen. This is for the S Pen Pro as well as the fold edition S Pen. You have to buy it separately as it doesn’t come with the Z Fold3.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Display
The size of the display is pretty much the same as what we had on the Fold 2, so a 6.2-inch cover display, and then a 7.6-inch primary foldable display. Now there are some key changes here, however. So in Fold 2, we only had the 120Hz refresh rate for the main display. The cover display was 60Hz. Now with Fold 3, we have 120Hz for both the cover as well as the main display. So it is nice to have such consistency.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Processor
The Flagship Fold series device from Samsung comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Now the Snapdragon 888+ has been announced, but it has been avoided here. Nevertheless, the 888 is still very capable. Also, the Z Fold 3 features better heat management for better sustained performance to assist in long gaming sessions. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 comes preloaded with 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Camera
Here is the most interesting part, so the cover display is featuring a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera that is 10MP. Here the main camera on the foldable display has undergone a reduction in resolution to just 4MP. Now you may be wondering why Samsung has taken a step back since on Fold 2, we had 10MP front-facing cameras on both the cover as well as the main foldable display. Here the reason for the lower resolution seems to be the under-display nature of the inner camera. Since the technology is so new that you can’t get a large-sized camera under the display. However, Samsung has managed to achieve this which is really awesome.
For the rear-facing cameras, we have a triple camera setup and these are all 12MP sensors like we had in the Fold 2. The primary sensor is followed by an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Battery
Compared to the Z Fold 2, we have a slightly smaller battery in the Z Fold3. The Z Fold 3 comes fuelled by a 4440 mAh battery compared to the 4500 mAh battery in the Z Fold 2. The battery has been split into two. As for the charging, the Z Fold 3 supports 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging, potentially also, reverse wireless charging.
