Vivo X Fold Design
The Vivo X Fold has an inward folding design that is comparable to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the OPPO Find N. It is equipped with an “aerospace-grade floating wing hinge,” which enables the display to be folded fully flat without revealing any gaps while in use. When the screen is flat open, there are no obvious wrinkles, which is in contrast to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Vivo says that the phone can resist 300,000 folds, which is equivalent to folding and unfolding the phone 80 times each day for a period of 10 years, according to the company. The Vivo X Fold, like the Samsung foldable, can be opened at a variety of angles ranging from 60 to 120 degrees in length. Additionally, Vivo has included ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanners for both the outer and inner displays. Furthermore, Vivo has added an anti-reflective coating to both panels in order to prevent glare.
Vivo X Fold Display
The Vivo X Fold is characterised by a huge cover screen and a tablet-like internal display. The cover panel is a 6.53-inch AMOLED, while the inside screen is a foldable 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED E5 with an adaptive refresh rate. Both displays include a 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR 10+.
According to Vivo, the Vivo X Fold is equipped with an aircraft-grade floating wing hinge that enables it to fold flat. It is capable of remaining open at an angle of up to 120 degrees. The inner screen, it is claimed, will remain wrinkle-free for the duration of its life. Additionally, there will be no colour changes in the transition between the outside and inner screens. The handset’s display is A+ approved. SCHOTT’s ultra-thin glass shields the inner foldable display.
Vivo X Fold Performance
Qualcomm’s newest and most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor powers the Vivo X Fold. The Vivo X Fold has 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of inbuilt UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone is intended to perform substantially better than existing foldable devices. The Vivo X Fold is based on Android 12 and comes pre-installed with the company’s newly announced OriginOS Ocean.
Vivo’s software incorporates a variety of features and improvements to maximise the folding form factor. For instance, you may run two applications simultaneously on the internal display, open apps in hovering windows, and utilise a waist-level viewfinder to capture time-lapse and long-exposure images without the necessity of a tripod.
Vivo X Fold Camera
It’s not uncommon to find foldable devices with subpar camera technology. However, that is not the case with the Vivo X Fold, which comes equipped with a competent quad-camera array with ZEISS lenses. It has a Samsung GN5 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation. Additionally, there is a 12MP zoom camera with an f/2.4 aperture, a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide camera with optical image stabilisation and an f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical and 60x digital zoom. Zeiss trademark and a range of shooting settings are included on the cameras. Not only that, but it also has a selfie camera on both the outside and inner displays. Both the inner and outer displays have 16-megapixel hole-punch selfie cameras.
Vivo X Fold Battery
The Vivo X Fold comes equipped with a 4,600mAh battery with 66-watt cable charging, which claims to charge it in less than 37 minutes. Additionally, you can charge it wirelessly at a rate of up to 50 watts, and it has a reverse charging option.
Vivo X Fold Verdict
The Vivo X Fold is a strong rival, but the tech firm is unwilling to release it outside of China at the moment. Therefore, for people outside of China who are interested in folding smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 remains the best option.
