It is rarely observed that Realme takes a break from launching smartphones. Well, December was one such month. Vivo launched 3 new devices this month, whereas Tecno made a comeback in the Indian market. Also, Redmi launched its new budget smartphone, while Infinix launched its first upper mid-range smartphone here in India.

Vivo launched 3 new devices this month, whereas Tecno made a comeback in the Indian market. Also, Redmi launched its new budget smartphone, while Infinix launched its first upper mid-range smartphone here in India.

Here is a comprehensive list of all smartphones that were launched in December 2020:

1. Vivo V20 Pro

After being criticized for offering low-end chipsets at sky-high prices, Vivo has finally entered the competitive game in India. The new Vivo V20 Pro is the latest addition to their V20 series of smartphones. Priced at Rs. 29999, the device competes with the likes of the OnePlus Nord and Pixel 4a. 

The Vivo V20 Pro features a 6.44 inches AMOLED display with a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. Its main highlight is the sleek 7.39mm design along with the premium AG matte gloss finish. The device is fueled by a 4000mAh cell paired with 33W fast charging. Under the hood, it has got the Snapdragon 765G SoC coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage. The 44MP dual front camera is capable to capture great selfies, and the 64MP rear camera setup is, too, loaded with immense capabilities and features.

2. Infinix Zero 8i

Infinix is known to offer some great smartphones under the 10k market in India. With its latest offering, the Zero 8i, the brand plans to enter the Mid-Range segment to take on the Realme 7 and Poco M2 Pro. 

It is powered by the Mediatek Helio G90T SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. On the front, it has got a 6.85-inch FHD display with a 90hz refresh rate. The Infinix Zero 8i is packed with a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 33W fast charge support via Type-C port. The device sports a quad-camera setup, with the primary sensor being a 48 MP lens with f/1.79. Other sensors include an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens. There’s a 16MP dual punch hole camera on the front for selfies, including an 8MP ultrawide lens for group photos.

3. Tecno Pova

Tecno launched its new POVA series of smartphones, which is focused on the budget segment in India. 

The Tecno Pova comes with a big 6.8-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1640 x 720 pixels. It is powered by the Mediatek Helio G80 12nm SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB storage. 

On to the optics, the device flaunts a 16MP quad-camera setup, with 2MP sensors for depth, macro, and AI. There is a 16MP primary shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The Tecno Pova packs a humongous 6000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It is priced at Rs. 9999 in India and competes with the Redmi 9 Prime and Realme Narzo 20.

4. Moto G9 Power

The Moto G9 Power is quite similar to the Moto G9 that was launched earlier this year. It is priced at Rs. 11999 for the 4+64GB storage configuration. 

It packs in a massive 6000mAh battery and supports 20W TurboPower charging via Type-C port. It has a 6.8-inch HD+ Max Vision IPS display with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio. 

Under the hood, the Moto G9 Power is powered by the Snapdragon 662 chipset which is based on the 11nm FinFET process. In the optics department, the device has a 64 MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and lastly a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there is a 16MP punch-hole selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

5. Infinix Smart HD 2021

The Infinix Smart HD 2021 smartphone is priced at Rs. 5999 for the 2+32GB storage configuration, and offers a great VFM package at its price point. 

Infinix Smart HD comes with a 6.1-inch HD+ display, with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has the Mediatek Helio A20 chipset on board with 2GB of RAM. The device runs on XOS 6.2 based on the Android 10 Go Edition. A 5000mAh battery fuels the budget device via a Micro USB port. 

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Infinix Smart HD 2021 packs a single 8MP rear camera. It also sports an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

6. Redmi 9 Power

Xiaomi launched yet another device of its never-ending 9 series, the Redmi 9 Power. It is priced at Rs. 10999 for the 4+64GB variant, and gives a tough competition to the Moto G9 Power. 

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, with a 64GB UFS 2.1 storage type. It packs a massive 6000mAh battery along with 18W fast charging in the box. The beautifully designed smartphone sports a 48MP quad-camera setup on the back, including 3 auxiliary lenses, an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and lastly a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, the device has got a 6.53-inch FHD+ display, on the top of which lies an 8MP selfie shooter.

7. Vivo Y20A

The Vivo Y20A smartphone is focused on the offline Indian market and will be available starting 2nd January 2021. Vivo Y20A will be priced for Rs. 11,490 for 3GB+64GB (expandable) storage and will be available in two beautiful colors: Nebula Blue and Dawn White.

On the front, the phone has a 6.51 Inch Halo iView display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the power button for quick unlocking. The device also packs a massive 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging. The Snapdragon 439 chipset powers the device with 3GB of RAM. 

There is a 13MP triple camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 2MP bokeh sensor and a 4cm macro lens. The smartphone also offers an 8MP camera for selfies on the front.

8. Vivo Y51

The Vivo Y51 is a stepped-up version of the Y20A. It is priced at Rs. 17990 for the 8+128 GB storage configuration. The device sports a large 6.58 inch FHD+ LCD with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It also packs a 5000mAh battery along with 18W charging via the Type-C port. 

Under the hood, the Y51 is powered by the 11nm Snapdragon 665 chipset and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. On the optics front, the phone has a 48 MP primary lens with support for EIS, coupled with an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro sensor. A 16MP front shooter with f/2.0 is housed in a dewdrop notch on the front. 

9. Tecno Spark 6 Go

Other than the Pova, Tecno also unveiled the new member of its Spark series, the Spark 6 Go. It costs Rs. 8499 for the 4 +64GB variant. On the front, one can see a  6.53 inch HD display with a peak brightness of 480 nits. 

The Spark 6 Go has got the Mediatek Helio A25 chipset for power, along with 4 GB of RAM. Further, the device is fueled by a massive 5000mAh and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. 

The rear camera is a single 13MP system, and, on the front, the phone has an 8MP shooter for selfies.

10. Lava BeU

Lava Smartphones launched in December

The Indian smartphone brand, Lava, made a comeback this month with its all-new budget smartphone, the Lava BeU. It is listed at Rs. 6888 for the 2+32GB storage configuration. 

The smartphone is powered by the 1.6GHz Octa-Core Unisoc SC9863A chipset and packs a 4060mAh battery unit. It has a 6.08-inch display and currently runs on Android 10 Go Edition. 

As far as the cameras are concerned, the BeU has a 13MP rear camera with f/1.85 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. There’s an 8MP front camera for selfies as well. 

11. Vivo V20 (2021)

The Vivo V20 (2021) is a slightly tweaked version of the earlier launched Vivo V20. It is priced exactly the same as the V20, at Rs. 24999 for the 8+128 GB variant. 

The only difference that exists between the two devices is that the V20 is powered by the Snapdragon 720G chipset, whereas the V20 (2021) is, ironically, powered by a year older Snapdragon 730G chipset. The rest of the specs remain identical, be it in terms of the display, battery, or cameras. 

This sums up the list of all the smartphones that were launched in India in December. Although this month wasn’t that great, we are geared up for a hectic new year. Realme is planning to launch about 5 devices in January, whereas Samsung is about to release more than 4 devices. Xiaomi is also geared up to launch a new 5G smartphone, adding to its mid-range portfolio.
