  • Review Summary

I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy S26 for the last few weeks, and overall, it feels like a polished flagship smartphone with an excellent display, natural cameras, smooth One UI experience, and strong day-to-day performance. I also played multiple hours of BGMI and captured several images during the Cashify 13th Birthday party, where the camera delivered impressive low-light results.

However, one issue I consistently noticed in my Samsung Galaxy S26 review was overheating during gaming and camera use due to the Exynos 2600 chipset, even in an AC environment. Let’s read the complete Samsung Galaxy S26 review below:

Samsung Galaxy S26 Design and Build

The Samsung Galaxy S26 weighs 167 grams and measures 149.6 x 71.7 x 7.2 mm. Its premium matte finish on the back panel is highly appreciated. The back of the device is protected with strong Gorilla Glass, making it durable.

    samsung galaxy S26 design

The Armour Aluminium 2 frame has a smooth, understated finish that feels nice to the touch and adds strength throughout the body.

    design

During the Samsung Galaxy S26 review, I was using it with sweaty hands, and the matte finish resists fingerprints while providing a sleek, smudge-free look. Moreover, its lightweight body and just 7.2mm thickness give a perfect fit in a single hand.

    top

I mostly used this phone without a cover and never experienced any slippage. The compact form factor also makes long gaming sessions and one-handed scrolling very comfortable.

    bottom

This phone also comes with IP68 dust-tight and water-resistant protection, which makes it immersible up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Samsung has also maintained excellent build quality with tight button feedback and a solid in-hand feel that instantly gives a premium flagship experience.

    Samsung Galaxy S26 Camera

The camera quality on the Samsung Galaxy S26 is outstanding. After using this device extensively, I would say that the camera experience has been reliable for me, regardless of lighting conditions. The aspect I enjoyed about the Samsung camera is that it avoids heavy editing for the images.

    samsung galaxy S26 camera

I used the phone extensively at the Cashify 13th birthday, where the lighting conditions kept changing at night. I got the chance to take several pictures in the event, and trust me, the low-light results appeared extremely aesthetic.

    samsung galaxy S26 camera sample

The way the camera handled lighting without making things unnatural was remarkable.

    camera sample

During the day, there were no compromises in terms of picture quality. Portrait mode was amazing because it accurately detected edges. The separation between the hair and the cutout was done perfectly, with an awesome blur effect. The images taken under normal mode were great, with balanced colours and a realistic appearance.

    camera sample

Unlike other phones, such as the Vivo X300 FE, which produce photos that appear heavily processed even before editing, Samsung has maintained some realism in the photos. This gives you greater freedom when editing your photos to achieve that special effect.

    camera sample

The zoom feature on this smartphone is also another impressive feature of this device. In my experience, this phone’s zoom is pretty great, even at 30x. Even though 100x zoom does get pixelated, it can be considered an acceptable option.

    camera sample

As far as selfies are concerned, both regular selfies and portraits come out well with this device. Samsung avoids excessive face whitening by handling skin tones very effectively on this smartphone.

    samsung galaxy S26 front camera

Regarding video recording, this smartphone features 8K video, producing high-quality, effectively stabilised footage. In addition, Samsung maintains colour balance between cameras, which proves useful when recording videos professionally.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Battery and Charging

The battery performance of the Samsung Galaxy S26 is quite satisfactory during day-to-day activities. In my case, with day-to-day social networking, photo capture, YouTube video watching, calls, and games, the battery performed satisfactorily and lasted the whole day on a single charge.

    samsung galaxy S26 battery

With excessive gaming and camera use, battery consumption increased due to overheating. However, with average usage, there seems to be proper battery optimisation with One UI.

Once again, Samsung’s battery management is commendable, as standby battery drain is tightly controlled even during overnight use. The charging speed is satisfactory, but I was using an Apple 20W charger, so I cannot provide the exact charging speed or other details. But overall experience was great.

    Samsung Galaxy S26 Display

Samsung Galaxy S26 comes with a 6.3-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. From my experience, it is one of the best flagships in its segment. Display quality has always been one of Samsung’s strong points, and in this model, everything seems to remain untouched.

    samsung galaxy S26 display

First off, the panel looks incredibly sharp, and while colours are vibrant and saturated, they don’t look oversaturated at all. The overall feeling is very premium and impressive, whether you watch videos on Netflix, browse Instagram, edit pictures or play BGMI.

    refresh rate

In terms of performance, the Samsung offers a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, which works flawlessly with this phone’s UI animations. Animations have always looked smooth, yet this display makes the experience even more enjoyable. In addition, touch response is great when playing games, especially BGMI.

    brightness

Also, I have tested this phone outdoors during the daytime multiple times as well. No matter how bright it is outside, visibility remains perfect thanks to 2600-nit peak brightness. In addition, HDR10+ allows you to watch HDR-quality YouTube or OTT streaming apps with great contrast and black levels.

    display quality

One additional aspect I’d like to highlight is that Samsung tends to make displays feel more natural than those from some brands that oversaturate colours. Content looks rich yet realistic, which many users will genuinely appreciate in daily use.

    Samsung Galaxy S26 Performance

The Exynos 2600 2nm processor powers the Samsung Galaxy S26 in India. In terms of performance, this is a great phone for day-to-day use and for playing games. Apps launch quickly, there are no lag issues during multitasking, and overall optimisation is very good via One UI.

While gaming, I tested this phone for several hours without any performance issues. There were minimal frame drops, and the control sensitivity felt great, with first-class performance on this mobile phone.

    samsung galaxy S26 gaming

A critical point I found while using this phone for gaming and regular use was that it heated up very easily, even when in AC conditions. So, without external heat, this phone would still warm up when using the camera or playing games.

Even while recording video and taking several images at once, the phone heated up faster than expected, despite its 2nm processor. However, the phone is not difficult to hold even after it heats up, although it shouldn’t have warmed up that much in the first place.

Apart from overheating, during the Samsung Galaxy S26 review, it handles heavy tasks comfortably, and RAM management is excellent. Also, the hardware-software optimisation feels polished in real-world use.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Software and UI

Samsung Galaxy S26 comes with OneUI 8.5, which delivers an extremely clean, slick Android experience. To be honest, among all the Android operating systems I’ve used, Samsung’s has the cleanest UI for me so far.

    UI Android 16

Smooth animation, premium transitions between applications, and great software optimisation make the entire UI experience amazing when performing various actions on this phone.

    UI

Samsung keeps the UI very clean and does not put too much emphasis on unnecessary elements that would make the design look flashy. Overall, the design looks professional and elegant.

    UI

There are also many options for personalising the user interface; one can easily change icons, wallpapers, widgets, and lock screens to suit personal preferences.

    UI

Galaxy AI is also well implemented in the UI and seems quite practical for daily use.

    Galaxy AI

Additionally, Samsung’s promise of seven years of extended software support adds value to this flagship smartphone as a future-proof device.

    Verdict

After using the Samsung Galaxy S26 extensively, I can say it delivers a premium flagship experience with an excellent display, natural camera performance, smooth software, and reliable gaming performance. Samsung’s camera processing especially stands out because the images look realistic rather than overly edited.

The only major downside I noticed in the Samsung Galaxy S26 review was the heating issue with heavy gaming and camera use. But apart from that, the phone performs impressively in almost every area and remains a strong compact flagship option overall.
