    iOS 14 Release Set for Today: Features, Compatible Phones


    iOS 14 brings a new look, redesigned widgets, compact user interface, and enhanced Siri. Here is a list of devices compatible with it.

    • iOS 14 is supported on iPhone 6s and later.
    • The update will carry App Library to remove clutter from the home screen.
    • iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14 are also releasing today.

    CEO Tim Cook revealed the release date of iOS 14 at Apple’s virtual event on Tuesday. This event brought in launches like iPad Air 4, iPad 8th gen, Apple Watch Series 6, Watch SE, and more. Moreover,  the tech giant also says its latest software will be released today i.e September 16.

    Apple unveiled iOS 14 as the next update at the virtually held WWDC 2020 in June.

    iOS 14 release date, time in India

    The release takes place on September 16. However, the release time for the update is around 10 am PST/1 pm EST. Furthermore, the update will reach on your Apple device in India at around 10:30 pm IST today.

    There was no time mentioned by the company, this is based on previous rollouts of software updates.

    iOS 14 compatible iPhone models

    It will be available for download on all iPhone models that are in the compatibility list of iOS 13. Here is a list of these compatible phones:

    iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s PlusiPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 PlusiPhone 8iPhone 8 PlusiPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XSiPhone XS MaxiPhone 11, iPhone 11 ProiPhone 11 Pro Max, and the iPhone SE (2020).

    In addition, this iOS update is also compatible with the seventh-generation iPod touch.

    How to download iOS 14

    You can find it by going on iPhone’s Settings > General > Software Update. If you have already chosen to update, it will download itself. Or you can manually download the update on your phone by the above method.

    Note that you back up your personal data before beginning the download process. In addition, please keep your device charged or plugged in for charging before downloading the update.

    iOS 14 features

    This update will become the biggest ever update to its home-screen pages as Apple announced in WWDC 2020. Moreover, it will bring a new space to organize apps into one view called the App Library.

    There are redesigned widgets as well as a new interface for FaceTime, voice calls, and Siri interactions. A new Picture in Picture mode that would enable you to keep watching videos or continue your FaceTime call while you use another app.

    The latest iOS 14 also brings an all-new Translate app, designed for conversations across 11 different languages. All you have to do is, turn your phone to landscape and tap the single microphone button to say something and it will be translated to the language of your preference.

    This will come with an upgraded Message experience. You will be able to pin any of your favorite conversations. Moreover, you will get alerted on receiving messages in group threads through mentions and inline replies.

    iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14 release

    The new iPadOS will bring features such as redesigned sidebars, pull-down menus, and an enhanced search experience that works similar to macOS’s Spotlight pop-up search bar.

    The watchOS 7 brings customizable watch faces, activity rings for kids, various new complications, sleep tracking, and the ability to share watch faces.

    Additionally, tvOS 14 brings Picture-in-Picture, multiuser support for gaming. It will provide support for gaming controllers Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controllers.

    These new updates are also inline to release today just as iOS 14 in India.
