Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max in India is available in three storage and RAM variants i.e. 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, and 8GB+128GB.
The mid-tier variant is available at Rs 19,999/- on Mi.com. The top variant with 8GB+128GB is available at Rs 21,999/- on Mi.com. You can choose between Glacial Blue, Dark Night, and Champagne Gold colour variants. Of course, there is a tonne of offers including exchange offers and discounts from partner banks.

The unboxing experience is pretty old school and inside the box, you get the usual stuff that can be expected from a Redmi Note series phone. This includes the device itself, a fast 33W charger, a USB to USB Type-C cable, some documentation, and a translucent clear silicon back case.

Now, let’s move ahead and see what makes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max a powerful mid-ranger.

Xiaomi phones aren’t bad in terms of design. The Redmi Note 10 Pro Max has proven the same with a rather different design. Talking about the front first, it is an all-screen with narrow bezels display with a punch-hole to the top-left corner. Somehow, Xiaomi thought it would be good to add a silver ring around the selfie shooter but it is distractive.

The back arrives with two finishes though depending upon the colours you choose. The Dark Night colour variant has a glossy back panel while the other two colour variants have a frosted glass back with a shimmering gradient colour pattern that Xiaomi called EVOL Design. It shifts from light to dark when the light is reflected on it which looks truly awesome.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Max weighs 192 grams and has a thickness of just 8.1mm. Xiaomi has simply done a great job packing everything in a compact body. The camera setup at the back follows a two-step protruding camera bump where the primary sensor is highlighted with a silver right followed by other sensors. This is probably because of the protrusion that Xiaomi decided to have a two-step bump that looks cooler and elegant perspectively.
Luckily, the new Redmi phone arrives with an official IP53 rating from dust and splashes of water. This is required in case you want to claim a warranty on water damage while relieving you from stress in case you ever drop your phone in water but be cautious there.

For the usual part where I discuss peripherals and buttons, there’s a power button cum side-mounted FPS on the right along with a volume rocker. The display gets sufficiently bright at 1200 nits which is bright even when you are using the phone under harsh sunlight. I didn’t have any issue viewing the screen when walking on a beach when testing the phone so I gave it a go.

In essence, the display mounted on Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is truly a flagship-grade display which is amazing if you want a great display without paying for a highly-priced flagship phone.

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC under the hood makes for a lot of beef on the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. Manufactured on an 8nm process, the chipset has a dual cluster arrangement which includes two big 2.3GHz Kryo 470 Gold cores plus six small 1.8GHz Kryo 470 Silver cores. Redmi Note 10 Pro Max features an Adreno 618 GPU that handles its graphics rendering. Plus, it has 64/128GB of UFS 2.2 storage with 6GB/8GB of RAM.
The chipset on Redmi Note 10 Pro Max with Snapdragon 732G has surely made an upgrade over Snapdragon 720G but it isn&#8217;t a much bigger upgrade. The chipset scored 281,443 points on AnTuTu while the GeekBench scored 564 and 1,725 points on single-core and multi-core scores. This device scores less on AnTuTU when compared to its rival <a href="https://www.cashify.in/realme-x7-price-in-india">Realme X7</a>’s Dimensity 800U SoC.

At the end of the day, the chipset is still SD732G which means it can take up any tasks you throw at it. Be it entry-level apps or heavy games and apps, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max can handle it. I played a bunch of games including graphics-intensive COD Mobile with the highest graphics and very high frame rate which makes up for considerably smooth gameplay.
The phone doesn&#8217;t overheat as such but once you start playing games for a longer session, it will surely warm up a bit if not more.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Max runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12 at the time I was testing it. The UI is feature-rich but brings a lot of unwanted bloatware which is annoying.

You can’t remove all those bloatware so it is stuck with you for a lifetime. Ads are another issue with MIUI although MIUI 12.5 is expected to cut back on bloatware at least.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max packs in a single front and quad-camera setup at the back. This includes a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.5 aperture. There’s a 108MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture and dual-pixel PDAF; an 8MP ultrawide snapper with 118-degree FoV with f/2.2 aperture; a 5MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture; and a 2MP depth snapper with f/2.4 aperture.
Talking about the rear primary cam, it is a massive snapper at 108MP. It uses 9-in-1 pixel binning technology to capture great details in 12MP shots although you can go as high as 108MP mode. The shots captured with the 12MP binned mode are excellent in terms of details retention, accurate colours that simply pop up, wide dynamic range, and good control of exposure in every shot you capture. In fact, the software that does computational photography is well-calibrated and does its job pretty efficiently.

I have tried various modes on the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max including its dedicated night mode which is among the best in its price range. The highlights, details around the subject, and the shadows are properly captured thanks to the humongous sensor size which is capable of gathering more light than a 48MP or 64MP sensor. It keeps noise to a minimum making the shots blissful.

Next up, you get an 8MP ultrawide snapper which is the usual sensor at this price tag. It captures shots with 118-degree FoV while correcting the edge distortion using the underlying software. In fact, the shots are pretty undistorted which is a big thing to achieve.
There’s a 5MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor where the former is responsible for taking snaps of tiny subjects while the latter works with the primary snapper to capture highly convincing portrait shots.

Finally, we have a 16MP selfie shooter that lets you capture decent photos at the best with the Note 1o Pro Max. It oversharpens the faces in many shots although usable. The same goes for shots captured using the selfie shooter at night time as it won’t disappoint you.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max packs in a 5,020 mAh battery which is more than the average battery Android smartphones have nowadays. With a beefy battery pack, you can easily spend a day browsing, calling, texting, and streaming with some juice left that will take you to &#8220;Day 2&#8221;. In fact, I have found out that even hardcore usage will get you around a day of battery life. You get a handsome 6 to 7 hours of screen-on-time which is not bad, to be honest.

With Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, you get a 33W fast charging tech under the hood. This is blazing fast as it takes just 80 minutes to juice up the battery to its capacity. Plug it for 30 minutes and you get around half the battery pack that will give you a day’s worth of battery life if used wisely.

Getting a stereo speaker setup is surely a boon above a single speaker system. As usual, the bottom-firing loudspeaker acts as a primary and right-channel in landscape mode whereas the earpiece acts as a secondary and left-channel. Apparently, it is loud but lacks bass which is essential for an overall immersive experience. But at the end of the day, I didn’t have any issue with the sound quality as it is crisp and loud.
You get a USB Type-C 2.0 port on the go with Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max along with an IR port, GPS (BDS, Glonass, and A-GPS), Wi-Fi 802.11ac with dual-band support, Bluetooth v5.1 (with LE and A2DP) among others. There&#8217;s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the device as well with 24-bit/192kHz audio.
Redmi Note 10 Pro Max has dual SIM support with 4G. You can connect to the LTE-A (A) 4G network with DSDS. I had no issues connecting on calls, texting, and more when I was testing it out on both Vi 4G and Jio 4G. Call drops are rare and being unable to send messages is a rare occurrence too, however, it is likely that the carrier is to be blamed and not the phone. I haven’t faced any issues with the proximity sensor either.

As usual, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max gives you access to both FPS and Face Unlock. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner (FPS) is embedded on the power button, however, it isn’t recessed. It is quick though as you can simply tap and unlock the phone in a jiffy. On the contrary, the Face Unlock is a 2D software solution and does work fine but it isn’t that secure, to be honest. It does get the job done but I would still prefer having a fingerprint sensor around for reliability.

The phone has 194 grams of curb weight and a thickness of 9mm making the phone pretty heavy to handle at first. However, once you get used to it, the weight seems manageable.
The phone has a plastic unibody with a plastic frame that curves between the front and back panels. The front has a giant display with a waterdrop-shaped notch with decent-sized bezels around the edges. The phone has a Panda Glass on top.

The plastic back panel is plastic that is practically bifurcated in two sections. The topmost section which counts for 1/3rd of the panel is plain while the other two sections are textured that escalates grip which is good for handling such a humongous smartphone. You get a square camera bump with a triple camera setup and a LED flash that sits on the top-left corner albeit it looks tiny against the height of the back panel.
We have a P2i coating on the device which protects the phone from splashes although I wouldn’t dare remove the phone out in rain or letting it dip in water for any reason as the protection is restricted. You get three colour options to try with Poco C3.
There’s a micro USB port, a bottom-firing loudspeaker, and a primary mic at the bottom. You get a power button and a volume rocker on the right and a triple card slot on the left. Aesthetically, the display mounted on Poco C3 is similar to <a href="https://www.cashify.in/xiaomi-redmi-9a-price-in-india">Redmi 9A</a> in many ways. The bezels are thick on all four sides while the chin is sufficiently large but it is what I assume to get with an entry-level budget smartphone. The display is okayish for the LCD technology, however, colours aren’t that vibrant. Plus, the brightness is optimum indoors but as soon as you go outside, you will find it difficult to use the phone in broad daylight. However, it is something new on smartphones as even the OnePlus 6 (flagship smartphone in 2018) offers a pretty faded viewing experience when you are under harsh sunlight.

Anyways, the display is capped at HD+ i.e. 720&#215;1600 pixels so it will not have the best of picture clarity and resolution out there. Even if you download a movie in FHD+ resolution, you will end up watching it at HD+ resolution anyways.
In any case, the display is okay for the price you are paying with little to no surprising element to it.

Poco C3 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset fabricated using a 12nm node. The chipset has a dual-cluster arrangement clocked at a max 2.3GHz frequency. It is flanked with a PowerVR GE8320 graphics processing. You get 32GB/64GB of internal storage and 3GB/4GB RAM.
With Helio G35 SoC under the hood, Poco C3 is not a beast in any way. You will have to tame your expectations when it comes to performance as the phone is overall sluggish in every aspect right from UI animations to launching and switching between apps to absolutely anything that you can think about.

MIUI 12 is not lightweight and thus, this pushes down the performance even further. I was able to play a hoard of games from Alto’s Odyssey to CarX Drift Racing 2 to even COD Mobile although the latter is with widely reduced graphics and sluggish in many ways. Overall, the phone irrespective of the RAM variant you pick up and turns out all the phones powered by G35 SoC have almost the same performance paradigm.

Poco C3 runs on Android 11-powered MIUI 12 out-of-the-box but with a Poco launcher on top. Apparently, it is free from ads and promotional content that MIUI 12 is heavily inclined towards or at least that’s what Poco has to say about it. The MIUI 12 brings some clogging apps like GetApps and other pre-installed apps that you can uninstall although there are a few that can’t be uninstalled but only disabled.

There’s a single front and a triple rear camera setup. Poco C3 packs in a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.2. There’s a 13MP primary snapper with an aperture of f/2.2, 1.0micron pixel size, PDAF, and a 28mm focal length; a 2MP depth and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
If you ask me about a one-liner review on the camera rig on Poco C3, I would say it is fairly average and as per the price segment. To summarize, the daylight shots are amazing on Poco C3. When I say amazing, I am not saying the shots are excellent but they are fairly decent as per the price tag. You get a decent amount of details, sharpness, and dynamic range on shots. However, autofocus takes some time so you will have to manually set the focus at times.

The depth sensor works with the primary snapper to capture portrait shots. To detect edges with the depth sensor, you need abundant light that would help the sensor work harmoniously to isolate the subject and apply a blur effect on the background. The ability to detect edges in portrait mode goes off the rails when the external light dims. But you can always use the flash to take good-quality shots at night.
The lack of dedicated night mode had me wonder why but that’s the case with Poco C3 so you will have to deal with it.

Finally, the macro sensor mounted on the phone is average at 2MP. It does capture objects from a close distance but you need to be very close to the object and perfectly still to take a shot. Even then, the shutter lag will introduce a lot of focusing issues so be still. Again, low light compounds the issue in capturing shots using the macro sensor as well.
The selfie shooter mounted on Poco C3 churns out considerable images at daytime and when there’s abundant light around. Lowlight photography isn’t a point here as the sensor is too small in size to capture enough light for decent shots but that depends on the intensity of light available.

Poco C3 is rigged with a 5,000 mAh battery capable of providing backup of more than a day with ease. The battery can do everything from day-to-day tasks to keeping the battery backup at optimum and, with moderate usage, you can extend the battery backup to more than a day. Its usual 10W charging tech is ordinary as it takes almost 2:30 hours to charge to its full extent. Again, this is almost the same battery rig and charging speed as evident by its price tag.

There’s just one bottom-firing loudspeaker on-board Poco C3. It is loud although it lacks depth and bass. It should be able to provide you with enough loudness for a wholesome multimedia experience. There isn’t anything out-of-the-box here but you get a decent setup.
This entry-level smartphone has all the connectivity features as per its price segment. This includes GPS (BDS, Glonass, and A-GPS), Bluetooth v5.0 with LE And A2DP codecs support, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n along with a micro USB 2.0 port and there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on-board as well.

Poco C3 supports dual-4G VoLTE. I have used a lot of entry-level devices and with Poco C3, the story is the same. I didn’t have any problem connecting to calls and text and browse although the processor adds a lot of delays when going to the dialer app or practically any app or settings on the device. Connectivity isn’t an issue with Poco C3.
There’s no fingerprint scanner here as evident by the price segment Poco C3 falls in. But you do get a 2D facial recognition system which is speedy although it takes some time to unlock the phone depending upon the lighting conditions. Also, PIN and Pattern unlocking mechanisms are far secure options to check out.

Oppo’s Reno series is a powerful mid-range series and it just got a refresh of the Reno5 series just a few months after its predecessors were launched last year. The Reno5 Pro is an older brother to the <a href="https://www.cashify.in/oppo-reno-4-pro-price-in-india">Reno4 Pro</a> and packs in some impressive specifications that you would love to use. The phone does imbibes the design DNA of the Reno 4 Pro and upgrades a few hardware to make Reno5 Pro 2021-ready.

Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G is a brilliantly designed smartphone, to be honest. Its tall body makes it easier to hold while the phone is lightweight at 173 grams that ease one-handed usage. I tested the Astral Blue version which is one of the best colourways apart from the Starry Black version available in the market.
On the front, you get a brilliant display with minimal bezels around the edges that mimics its edge-to-edge appearance. On the rear, you get a quad-camera setup which is reminiscent of Oppo Reno4 Pro’s design. The camera setup is rectangular in shape with three giant lenses and a fourth one adjoining to it. The camera bump is raised a bit above the back panel while the circular ring around the lenses is raised just a bit further.

The back has a textured glass back which is vibrant and vivid thanks to the Astral Blue colourway. Plus, the back panel gets rid of some fingerprint marks and smudges giving you an easy time cleaning the panel.
The display is curved and so is the back panel that allows for better grip. The top is flat with “Designed for Reno” on it. At the bottom, you get a USB Type-C port, a Dual SIM tray, and a single bottom-firing speaker. With that, you should know that there’s no headphone jack here.
Moving on, the power button is located on the right exactly in reach for better usage. There’s a volume rocker on the left opposite the power button making it easy to reach. That’s all about it. I would say it again that Reno5 Pro 5G is probably one of the best-designed Reno smartphones out there.

Oppo Reno5 Pro sports a beautiful 6.55-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and the display is HDR10+ compliant. I am a big fan of the Reno series for a few things and this includes the design and display. The Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G has a 6.5-inch curved display that looks premium. It is a Super AMOLED 3D Curved display with an FHD+ resolution and has a 50 per cent higher refresh rate than the majority of smartphones out there. I am talking about its 90Hz refresh rate which is impressive and in fact, if you are upgrading from a 60Hz display, you will surely feel the epic smoothness while scrolling and animations.

MediaTek processors had a reputation for being sluggish compared to their Snapdragon counterparts. Then came the Dimensity line of processors that are changing our outlook towards MediaTek processors. The Dimensity 1000+ 5G integrated into the Reno5 Pro 5G can take everything you can throw at it. I am talking about apps both lightweight and intensive ones and it will take it with a breeze. In fact, I tested a series of graphics-intensive apps including Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile, and trust me, it is a wholesome experience.

Playing straight for 20-odds minutes and you might notice some warmth but that’s pretty much the case with every other powerful smartphone without a cooling mechanism in place. Still, I was able to clock in the highest graphics and frame drops on multiple heavy games and played like a pro. There are some titles that don’t allow the highest settings yet due to optimization issues so that’s not something the processor is obstructing.
Since it is 5G-supported, Reno5 Pro 5G is almost future-ready so I am talking about using the phone for a few years straight and with 5G in your hands. Overall, Dimensity 1000+ SoC has kept me impressed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t believe a word anyone would say about the Helio line of processors.

Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G runs on the latest Android 11-powered ColorOS 11.1 on top of it. ColorOS 11.1 brings a lot to the table such as customization options and system-wide dark mode among others. Cameras are undoubtedly one of the most important factors nowadays. Luckily, Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G has a great camera setup. This includes a 64MP primary camera with PDAF, f/1.7 aperture alongside an 8MP ultrawide snapper at f/2.2 aperture, and finally, two 2MP sensors dedicated for macro and depth respectively. That’s the quad-camera setup at the back. On the front, you get a 32MP selfie shooter with an f/2.4 aperture housed in a tiny punch-hole cut-out. Now, these are just the specs but how does the camera on-board Reno5 Pro 5G perform practically. Here’s everything that you need to know about it.
Let’s follow the usual reviewing one-by-one sensors. Talking about the 64MP sensor from OmniVision, it is impressive and offers much more than good-quality images. I was able to grab good details in the images I captured including landscape shots. The sensor manages to work well with accurate temperature, exposure, and colours and the dynamic range is great, to be honest.
One thing that I found out about the primary sensor is that the images use a lot of post-processing and that makes the images look over-processed sometimes. The primary sensor is not limited to 64MP shooting mode but you can upscale it to 108MP mode which is commendable. But you can check for yourself if the 108MP mode makes the images better or not.

Next up, we have an ultrawide snapper with a field of view of 115-degree. It is wider although not as much as many other alternatives. In any case, you can capture ultrawide photos and the sensor does its job. But there are some shortcomings too such as the contrast and dynamic range are lacking. It manages to retain poorer details compared to the giant primary sensor.
Further, the portrait mode on Reno5 Pro 5G works well too. There’s a macro sensor too in case you want to shoot your subject up close. It is average being a 2MP sensor but it’s there.
The phone uses a 32MP selfie shooter which is more than enough for all your video calls, selfies, and other requirements. It might not be the best camera but it is indeed good at retaining a good amount of details in the shots. It works in low light too although consider it as decent during some low light conditions.
Reno5 Pro 5G has an AI Highlight Video mode that captures well-lit videos during nighttime and low-light conditions. Other features include So Loop, Dual View, Live HDR, AI Color Portrait among others.
The camera setup on-board Reno5 Pro 5G is impressive, however, it seems like Oppo has once again used some marketing gimmicks to market the device. The Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) which smartly analyzes frames to produce better videos simply dials up the dynamic range and brighter while not doing anything out-of-the-box. As mentioned, it is a software-based solution and thus, has some drawbacks that users will get such as extra smoothening, higher motion blur among others.

Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G comes strapped with a 4,350 mAh battery which is huge, to be honest. I was able to get 6-7 hours of SoT which is great for a phone with a powerful chipset and highly optimized software. I was able to get a battery life of a day and a half on using the phone moderately so I wouldn’t think twice before recommending it for those who want an excellent battery with performance.

The device also comes with 65W Super VOOC 2.0 which is blazing fast. 10 minutes top-up can juice up the battery to 35 per cent which is amazing. Just half an hour and you get 98 per cent of battery life which is great.

Talking about audio, I would have loved a stereo speaker setup at this price tag. However, Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G opts for a single bottom-firing speaker which is loud and has good sound quality. It will make you feel immersive when playing games or watching movies or listening to music. However, there is no stereo speaker so that’s a bit of a letdown for some.
Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G is a powerful smartphone, to be honest, and has a dedicated array of connectivity features that you would love. It supports Wi-Fi 6 dual-band along with Bluetooth v5.1 with aptX HD, LE, and A2DP. For navigation, the device supports multiple navigation systems including BDS, Galileo, QZSS, Glonass, and A-GPS. There’s a fast USB-C 3.1 port on-board as well. Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack on-board so that’s a thumbs down for audiophiles.
Network reception on 4G (since 5G is not available in India) is good even if you are talking on your phone from a few floors underground such as in the basement or in parking. The device has a 5G+4G setup which is essentially 4G+4G until 5G isn’t available in India.
Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G is equipped with an under-the-display fingerprint scanner. As usual, it is quiet and has some animations that you can choose from. It is quick and snappy and a far reliable option than the 2D facial recognition system on-board the device which is available in case if you want to switch to the face unlock. Perhaps, I am excited that there’s no shark fin for the front camera which looks like an overdo.

Redmi has been ruling the mid-range smartphone market for a while now, and their latest offering Redmi Note 9 Pro is no different. Xiaomi has completely refreshed the design of its new Redmi Note series smartphone with quite many noticeable changes as compared to previous note smartphones. Embracing the back design is a refreshed rear camera design which now comprises a rectangular bump, instead of the vertical arrangement from the previous generation. Though the centre-placed module looks modern, the projection is prominent and doesn&#8217;t feel appealing. Replacing the rear physical fingerprint scanner is an aside-facing fingerprint sensor, integrated within the power and screen lock/unlock button.

The front too gets an upgrade with the water-drop notch being replaced by a punch-hole camera residing at the top-centre of the device. The display size got bigger making the device weigh on the bulkier side (209 grams) which can be ignored considering the massive battery that the device houses. The phone is one of the tallest and widest in the market measuring 165.7 x 76.6 x 8.8mm. You will find a USB-C port on the bottom edge as well as a headphone jack. There is a combined slot for dual nano-SIM cards as well as a microSD card for memory expansion on the left. We also get an IR blaster at the top.
We liked this new refreshed and polished design on both the smartphones, especially the back which might further grab buyer&#8217;s attraction looking for an upmarket handset.

A disappointing thing that we have always felt in budget Xiaomi smartphones is the absence of an AMOLED display, which we still cannot find in the Redmi Note 9 Pro and neither in the Note 9 Pro Max. But we had neither expected it as the company didn’t offer a better display even on the more expensive <a class="_e75a791d-denali-editor-page-rtfLink" href="https://www.cashify.in/review/poco-x2-is-it-the-best-budget-all-rounder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Poco X2</a>.  The Redmi Note 9 and 9 Pro Max house a 6.67-inch (2,400x1080p) FHD+ display and comes with a taller 20:9 aspect ratio and camera cutout for the front-facing camera. The display is quite identical to the one we have seen on the Poco X2. But a disappointing fact is that unlike the Poco X2, the Redmi Note 9 series possess absence of a high refresh rate panel that budget smartphones such as the <a class="_e75a791d-denali-editor-page-rtfLink" href="https://www.cashify.in/review/realme-6-and-6-pro-all-the-pro-you-need" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Realme 6</a> do offer. Therefore, you’ll miss out on a smoother scrolling experience and it does put the Redmi Note 9 Pro on the back foot compared to its competitors. You do get Widevine L1 but the display does not come with any sort of HDR certification. We do get Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at the front which prevents scratches and damages from light drops and bumps.

Being an LCD panel, the display quality doesn&#8217;t match devices such as the Samsung A21 and the M31, but it&#8217;s still pretty decent. Media consumption was fun and the massive display is just apt for consuming videos or playing games. However, we did find the display not that great in bright sunlight which became more prominent due to the over reflective panel. Overall, the display quality is satisfactory, but a higher refresh rate panel will always be missing.

There’s just a tiny bit of difference when it comes to the specs sheet for Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max. Talking about the chipset, both the smartphones are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G 8nm octa-core chipset paired alongside Adreno 618 GPU. The former has a 64/128GB storage and 4/6GB RAM options while the latter has 64/128GB of internal storage and 4/6/8GB of RAM options available with it.
The Snapdragon 720G is a massive upgrade from MediaTek Helio G90T that the last year&#8217;s Note 8 Pro arrived with. It has an upper hand in terms of performance with 279,978 points on AnTuTu while the Geekbench results showed that the phone can pull off 568 points on a single-core and 1761 points on a multi-core test.
We played a few games on both the devices and, to be honest, it can handle everyday tasks with plenty of multitasking easily. On the other hand, even high-graphics games like Asphalt 9 Legends, Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG Mobile couldn&#8217;t cause much stress on the chipset although we did see a bit of increase in the core temperature that&#8217;s normal although it goes against what Xiaomi claimed.
After playing a few games, we found out that although you can play high-graphics games at higher resolution, the frame rate is a bit low so you won’t get that additional frames to spot and shooter someone in especially FPS games where even a second counts but the chipset won’t let you down and no matter what type of machine the opponent is using, there’s a great chance that you will be able to combat the situation as the chipset doesn’t give away too easily.

We ran a few tests on the phone such as 3DMark, GFXBench’s Manhattan 3.1, Car Chase game tests and saw an impressive result so far. Perhaps Snapdragon 720G is a premium version when compared to Helio G90T and a predecessor to Snapdragon 730G seen in midrange devices.
It is a budget phone so don&#8217;t expect it to have a 90Hz to 120Hz refresh rate as you will have to settle with the standard 60Hz refresh rate. Overall, the phone thanks to its hardware configuration and software optimizations, it performs well at least at the start. The performance can take a dip after more than a year of usage or so but does common with many Android smartphones as well.

Although most of the specs revolving around Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max are almost identical, the camera hardware is where you’ll see a massive upgrade. The Redmi Note 9 Pro sports a single 16MP selfie shooter housed in a centrally placed punch-hole while there’s a quad-camera setup at the back. It has a primary 48MP (PDAF, f/1.8), secondary 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2, 1.12micrometer pixel size), a tertiary 5MP macro (f/2.4) and finally, a fourth 2MP depth sensor.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, on the other hand, shines bright with a larger 32MP punch-hole front shooter while the rear quad-camera setup is almost the same as its non-Max variant but with the inclusion of a massive 64MP (f/1.6, 0.8micron, PDAF) sensor.
There&#8217;s not much difference when it comes to camera performance although the 64MP sensor does give &#8216;Pro Max&#8217; an added advantage over the Note 9 Pro. Talking about the ultrawide sensor, both the phones have an 8MP sensor that pretty much can zoom at 0.6, 1x, and 2x although it is a digital zoom. Although the photos with the UW sensor are pretty wide, I saw that the edges warp a bit as opposed to what Xiaomi claimed earlier.
Moving on, the 5MP macro sensor is an added bonus. It can click photos of subjects at 4cm distance without any hassle and in fact, it is able to capture videos as well that you can either process on-site or download a RAW 8-bit file for processing later. The 2MP depth sensor does obtain depth effect in photos although the edge detection isn&#8217;t that strong.
The primary 48MP camera does capture a good amount of details, however, I found out that although the daylight photos are good, there’s no out-of-the-box element to it since 48MP has become a norm nowadays. The colours seem to have washed off if the object isn&#8217;t clocked. The 64MP sensor, of course, takes it a step further by capturing photos at par details and colours, however, it ultimately boils down to how the camera app processes the RAW image.
The night-time photography is okayish but I won&#8217;t say it is great cause it needs artificial light to show the objects in detail while the absence of light could deteriorate the photos pretty much every time. Low light photography on both the devices is a bit of let down as well although the Pro Max will always have an upper hand due to a larger sensor.
The front camera i.e. 16MP (Pro) and 32MP (Pro Max) can capture the subject with details although the latter has an upper hand no doubt. The images seem a bit overexposed with somewhat washed-out colours and the biggest problem I had with the front cameras is the default beautification mode which gives your face an unrealistic tone.
Anyways, moving ahead, the rear camera assembly can shoot videos at 4K although I would ask you to stick to 1080p for better colours &amp; stabilization.

Talking about the battery size, both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max are stuffed with a massive 5,020 mAh Li-Po battery. In fact, this is the largest battery that Xiaomi has managed to plonk inside the chassis of this beautiful smartphone. Considering the size of the battery, it is quite literal that the phone will have better battery life. Trust me because both these smartphones don’t fail to provide a battery backup of around two days of light to moderate usage.
You can indulge in a bunch of social media apps, video streaming, music, calling and texting and more for hours without needing to plug in the charger. Redmi Note 9 Pro is assisted by a decent 18W fast charging speed which juices up this humongous battery in around 1.5 hours. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is coming with an ever faster 33W charging speed which is advertised to juice up the battery to its 50% in 30 minutes and that’s pretty much true so you must have a look at it.

There&#8217;s nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to audio-related features on both the devices. We get a mono-speaker at the bottom of both the smartphones although we wished to get a dual stereo speaker which would have elevated the experience. Speaker output is loud enough but quite flat and lacks bass. A 3.5mm headphone jack does get included in the package which offers a decent amount of bass and dynamic range. Like other previous Note devices, the Note 9 Pro retains the IR blaster which resides at the top along with the secondary microphone for noise cancellation.

Coming to security, we get a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor that is integrated with the power button. As you would expect with a capacitive fingerprint sensor, the response time is super-fast with the device unlocking instantly. We also get face authentication as an alternative which is obviously not fast as the physical fingerprint scanner.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro stands out from the crowd for its extraordinary good looks, as it is thin and lightweight. The Snapdragon 720G chipset is a major drawback given that even the cheaper OnePlus Nord uses a powerful Snapdragon 765G. But there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD on Reno 4 Pro which Nord lacks. Oppo Reno 4 Pro has a pretty awesome curved Super AMOLED HDR10 90Hz display which is its major USP. Its large-sized 4000 mAh battery with blazing 65W fast charging is something you should look for. The camera on this definitely has some add-on features but still, it&#8217;s not the best for the price.

OPPO Reno 4 Pro

Oppo Reno 4 Pro made it to India on July 31st with its vibrant 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel, 90Hz refresh rate, a 4000 mAh battery under the hood with a Snapdragon 720G processor and a whopping 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging tech. It is the successor to the last-gen <a href="https://www.cashify.in/oppo-reno-3-pro">Oppo Reno 3 Pro</a> and does manage to bring a lot of improvements and design changes. Oppo released it a few weeks after its release in China although an LTE version is available in India at the moment.

Oppo has a few well-designed phones up its sleeves and Oppo Reno 4 Pro is one of them. It is among the lightest at 161 grams that makes it easier to hold even if you are a one-hand user. Although the overall built quality is good, Oppo is using a plastic back and frame which is a co-polymer PC resin-based plastic. This adds durability while taking away the feeling of having a glass back which has become a norm in mid-range to flagship phones but the plastic has aided in bringing down its weight.

The front has a curved display that looks flamboyant. There’s a tiny punch-hole to the top-left corner of the display that houses its front camera. The top bezel and chin are considerably thick while the side bezels are trimmed for a flagship experience. On the back, you’ll find a vertically stacked quad-camera setup with each sensor individually protruding above the back panel; unlike other phones that have all the sensors housed under a glass top.
A protective outer ring on all four sensors will prevent the lenses from brushing or scratches; although we would recommend getting a phone case to prevent any unwanted scratches on the back. And yes, the back panel is a fingerprint magnet as well; so good lock with scrubbing off the fingerprints if you aren’t using a phone case or at least a skin.
Talking about the sides, you’ll get a USB Type-C port at the bottom along with a 3.5mm headphone jack., a bottom-firing loudspeaker, and a primary mic. The power button resides on the right side while the volume rockers are located on the left. There’s a dual SIM Card slot on the top with a dedicated memory card slot and a secondary mic.

The display tech used on Oppo Reno 4 Pro is a 6.5” Super AMOLED panel with 1080&#215;2400 pixels resolution and a 402 PPI density. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate and comes with HDR10 compliance for a vivid viewing experience. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for protection from several drops.

Since we are talking about a Super AMOLED panel, Reno 4 Pro wouldn’t disappoint you with its vibrant and vivid display; curved on the sides giving it almost no bezels on the sides. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9 that makes it tall which is great for landscape gaming and watching movies on it. The display has a 90Hz refresh rate which is 50% faster than what standard Reno 4 or any other phone with a 60Hz refresh rate operates. You can set it to run on 90Hz or 60Hz. Gaming on 90Hz is like an out-of-the-box experience although you will have to look out for games compatible with 90Hz refresh rate. Its touch sampling rate can go as high as 180Hz which is another USP.
Oppo advertised that it reached a peak brightness of 1100 nits although the display could reach 843 nits on Max Auto mode. This isn’t as extrinsic as the advertised brightness; but it is far better than its competitors such as Sony Xperia 10 II, <a href="https://www.cashify.in/xiaomi-mi-note-10-lite">Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite</a>, <a href="https://www.cashify.in/vivo-x50-pro">Vivo X50 Pro</a>, and others. The phone has two colour modes i.e., Vivid and Gentle where the former has a rating of dE2000, DCI-P3 with excellent sub-2 results and the latter has dE2000~10. The display is HDR10 compatible and allows it to stream HDR content on Netflix and Amazon Prime among other platforms.

The performance on the Oppo Reno 4 Pro is carried out by a Snapdragon 720G processor manufactured on an 8nm node; with octa-cores clocked a maximum frequency of 2.3GHz plus, an Adreno 618 GPU sits on-top of it to take care of the graphics processing. The device has 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 storage system although only the former is available in India along with 8GB of RAM.
We tested the phone with several benchmarking tools such as it scored 569 points on a single-core test on GeekBench 5.1 while the multi-core test is at 1,781 points. AnTuTu 8 listing gives a score of 2,61,359 points. It is higher than Oppo Reno 3 Pro, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite while lagging behind Samsung Galaxy A71, Xiaomi Redmi K30 and so on.
The phone’s performance is great but it does have limitations given the fact that Snapdragon 720G is outdated when compared to the newer Snapdragon 765G; which is more powerful while some of the competitors are even using the flagship range of Snapdragon processors like Snapdragon 855 on <a href="https://www.cashify.in/review/xiaomi-redmi-k20-pro-review">Redmi K20 Pro</a>; or <a href="https://www.cashify.in/oneplus-7t">OnePlus 7T</a> that comes with Snapdragon 855+ in the similar price range.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro comes pre-loaded with Android 10-based ColorOS 7.2 which is the latest version of Oppo’s custom UI. No doubt it will get Android 11-based ColorOS 8 once it is available later this year. The ColorOS 7.2 has made quite a few improvements on top of its previous version. It now gets a customizable app icon since you can select from the various icon packs available; or download one of your own.

Oppo has made considerable changes to the camera tech on Reno 4 Pro. It now includes a quad-camera setup at the back which includes a primary 48MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, 0.8micron pixel size; a secondary 8MP ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 119° FoV; a tertiary 2MP macro sensor with an aperture of f/2.4 and a similar depth sensor sitting on the fourth position. On the front, there’s a 32MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.4 sitting on the top-left corner of the display in a punch-hole cutout.

The image quality on Reno 4 Pro’s primary sensor is nice with details and sharpness retained in a daytime shot. The noise when clicking solid objects is still there by the dynamic range has been enhanced with well-balanced colour production. There’s a Dazzle Color mode that takes the colour saturation to a sky-high. You can capture images at 2x and 5x zoom; although the latter wouldn’t have all the details retained since it is not lossless. The ultrawide sensor can capture images at 119° and doesn&#8217;t have the chops of the main sensor but it does manage to capture quality images with its 8MP sensor. Low light photography is well-lit, detailed but noisy at times. The only way you can capture shots with a macro sensor is by diving into the Expert mode with its worth the hassle.
Selfie shooter does its work as well by detecting and isolating the subject with blurred backgrounds and properly detected edges. All the details are retained since it captures images at 32MP without any pixel binning. The HDR was a turn off as it didn’t work but overall it is good. The front camera can capture video at 1080p at 30 and 120 fps with gyro-EIS; while the rear can capture videos at 4K@30fps yanking it up to 120fpss@1080p.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro is equipped with a colossal 4,000 mAh battery sitting under the hood and it is paired with a 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology. The battery scored an endurance rating of 96 hours. This includes 18:48 hours of continuous video playback, 11:30 hours of Wi-Fi internet surfing on a single charge. No doubt a 4,000 mAh battery would last at least a day even if subjected to a mix of moderate and heavy usage. The 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 tech allows the user to charge the battery in just 36 minutes which is unbelievable but true. It is also one of the fastest charging speeds available on a commercial smartphone; although too many chargers will affect the battery’s maximum charging potential after a few hundred cycles.

The fingerprint scanner is affixed under the display and allows blazing-fast unlocks in a blink of an eye. This is the most convenient unlocking mechanism; although you also get facial recognition that uses the front cam to detect authorized users and grant access to the phone. Then there are the usual PIN, pattern, and password-based unlocking systems in case you don’t want to or can’t use the fingerprint and facial recognition feature such as when it&#8217;s nighttime or when your fingers are greasy or oily.
There’s no 5G which is good since India doesn’t have any 5G infrastructure yet. The phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac i.e. Wi-Fi 5 with dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz support. It also supports Bluetooth v5.1 along with aptX HD, A2DP, and LE. When it comes to its GPS, it supports all navigation systems including GNSS, QZSS, BDS, A-GPS, Glonass, and Galileo alike. There’s an FM radio included along with a market-dependent NFC.
When tested for its speaker, Oppo Reno 4 Pro sports a single loudspeaker at the bottom. It scores a -28.4 LUFS rating on the loudness test which is below Oppo Reno 3 Pro and Reno 3 Pro 5G’s -27.4 LUFS and -25.2 LUFS ratings since the lower is better. Overall, the loudspeaker is average and between the two aforementioned predecessors so hopefully, not that bad and not better either. The audio quality on Reno 4 Pro is good as well.
